MAF could win the cup on the 14th then be traded while still hung over on Stanley Cup champagne

what if game 7 goes to OT and the game ends on June 15th? Buyout window opens on June 17th; players need to clear waivers before receiving the buyout, thus June 18th or after protected lists are submitted

Josh Manson, however, is not exempt.
Ducks have to choose between Lindholm, Vatanen, Fowler, Manson, and Despres. All with Bieksa eating up a spot as it stands due to his NMC.

I believe Bieksa said that he would waive. I don't have a link or source for that though, so I may have just made it up.

I believe teams can put players on waivers for the purpose of a buyout 24 hours before the buyout window opens.
My understanding is that if Game 7 ends in the wee hours of June 15, the buyout window will open at noon ET on June 17, and teams can put players on waivers for the purpose of a buyout at noon ET on June 16. There would be a five-hour window during which teams can buy players out before they need to submit their protected lists.
It's tight, but it shouldn't be a big deal because teams aren't going to wait until that morning before deciding whether or not to buy a player out.

Read today that sometimes in fact european pro seasons can count towards a players eligibility for the expansion draft. For example that what makes korpisalo need to be protected. Can anyone confirm these rules for me? did some google searching and didnt have too much luck

European seasons only count if the player was under an NHL contract while they played in Europe.
For a good list of everyone who is exempt, check out capfriendly's expansion draft tool:

I have been thinking and the Flames likely have the ability to acquire one more forward pre expansion if the opportunity presents itself.
The result would be exposing Lazar but I wonder how cheap it would be to get assurances to have Vegas pass on him?

Have to think this stretch is when Treliving makes his "boldest" move.
I also wonder how much this will weigh upon players like Fleury or Colin Wilson the longer the series goes

I'm not sure about Stoner or Despres being eligible. I don't think they played the requisite number of games. Also, the Ducks could choose Rackell, I guess. But I think Vatanen is exposed. Manson is too good and cheap.

I think the Ducks will come out of this in pretty good shape.
Bieksa will waive, leaving Vatanen as the odd man out. They will trade Vatanen to a team that can protect him, like Dallas.
There will be a bunch of circumvention type trades right before the expansion draft. The players that the Knights end up with won't be nearly as good as the lists that we are seeing on mock drafts.

I've seen Ducks fans claim this pretty strongly.
They've said that they probably trade Vatanen and are able to protect everyone else of note.

Which is almost exactly what Detroit did to Mike Vernon, except that Vernon had won the Conn Smythe that year, making it even more awkward, and is something MAF is in no danger of doing this year.

GM Bob Murray said Hampus Lindholm, Sami Vatanen have torn labrums and will need major surgery. Lindholm out 4-5 months, Vatanen "longer."
I wonder if this will affect things?

But it's saying they BOTH have torn labrums.
Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen has torn labrums?

Yeah, just noticed my mistake shortly after I had already posted. I failed the reading comprehension.
