Is this the new en vogue baseball thing? Retiring mid week in the middle of the season?

To be clear: Prince Fielder is not retiring. He is medically disabled and doctors will not clear him to play, sources say.

When a player retires, he effectively renounces the rest of his contract. Fielder is not doing that. Again, the money is guaranteed.

I can't lie, I laughed. Also shows where sports are at where trolling a guy gets you fired, but beating up women gets you contract extensions.

The Chicago Cubs have apologized for a song that was played after reliever Aroldis Chapman left the mound during Sunday's game.

The Cubs said an employee played Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" after Chapman pitched the ninth inning of a 6-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. That employee was fired Monday.

It looked like at the All-Star break the even year Giants trend was well on its way to continuing. Since then the Giants have the worst record in baseball, are out of first place after having a huge lead there, and are in danger of falling out of the playoffs altogether. Pretty shocking collapse but they still have time to right the ship.

Wow just saw the replay of Kyle Seager's play to end the game, that was fantastic. Hot Corner!

The Mariners are on a hell of a run, I won't lie I figured they were toast a few weeks ago and now they're 2 games out of a wildcard spot. If they can somehow take away a wildcard spot from either the Red Sox or the Orioles I will be very pleased.

Seattle routinely beat the Jays. Not sure I'd rather play them over the Orioles or Red Sox. given their pitching and their very large outfield at Safeco.

If any Jays fans want Farrell back please feel free to take him. Horrible game manager, cost the Redsox another game today.

Gary Sanchez for the Yankees has been a real beast in his early days. He's a monster behind the plate and has been knocking the cover off the ball. He won't keep hitting like this, but he looks like he could be quite good.

Hate to say it but the Yankees and Red Sox both look to have a pretty good group of up and coming young position players that are going to keep the AL East as a brutal division to pitch in.

The Redsox have swept the Yankees in 4 games for the first time in the regular season since June of 1990... They also won 4 straight against the Yankees in the ALCS of October 2004, just in case anyone has forgotten
