Toews is arguably the best captain in my opinion. Is he perfect? No. Giordano could be considered a mouthpiece. Same with Iggy. A good captain should be vocal.

I guess we have different opinions of "heat of the moment". Usually when people see someone is injured, reality sets in quickly.
