When he was doing his staring at the ground look on the bench, when he did that fall over and collapse temper tantrum on the sidelines, I was reminded of the Ti-Cat returning against the Stamps who went into hysterics when his return was called back and Austin couldn't put his best offensive weapon on the field when he needed him.
Let me ask you all this, if you're in the biggest game of the year and you're trailing and you look over to your offensive leader and your best player and he's having a meltdown like a 10 year old who was told he was going to Disney World but ended up at the dentist, how confident would you be, and would you follow that guy to hell and back.
Or would you follow the guy, who's not having a good day, but still gives off the vibe of "don't worry about this fellas, I got this"
Newton learned a harsh lesson today, and really embarrassed himself and his coaches and team mates and organization after the game.
I would expect a hasty press conference is going to be called and he's going to be told that he has to fix this.

Maybe, but the MVP and young face of the league (and that's what he's been called multiple times the last two weeks) cannot be a villain. He just can't.

Pats fans have to regret they did not wrap up the first seed. Tom could have one for the thumb.
Quite the defence Denver has - does it rank with other great SB defences like BAL, TB and SEA?

I'd argue that it isn't quite as good as Bal or the Bears 85 defense.

Actual NFL calibre QBs? I'm biased and in the glow of a championship but I think Denver's defence did more with less on the other side of the ball. Manning was statistically the worst QB to ever win a superbowl, right? Says a lot about how dominant the defence was.

One passing TD against Ben, Brady and Newton? Amazing.

Fine line in 2012 and 2015 for the Broncos. If Rahim Moore doesn't blow the coverage against the Ravens, maybe they win Super Bowl 47. If Toussaint doesn't fumble for Pittsburgh, maybe the Broncos don't win this Super Bowl.

Had this thought during the game yesterday, I say it's right up there with any of those named above. Especially considering the era the Broncos did it in, and against the league MVP QB.
I was just ridiculously impressed with the Denver D this postseason.

um, its the superbowl, the game of games, if your afraid to take risks to win, or fix mistakes you're never going to win one because the other team will out desire you.

The biggest issue I have with that whole thing is that last quote - "We didn't lose that game because of that fumble. I can tell you that."
Just reeks of not taking any responsibility for that loss to me.
You had 4 minutes, were only down 6, and had the ball.
Then you gave it away.
It wasn't the only reason they lost - but it is what made that game officially over. 6 points became 14 and there was no chance of a comeback.

That's brutal, that's the worst thing he could have said
If you're going to say anything, why not say you anticipated it to bounce out before he could have grabbed it?
Lots of people have already thought that was the case, now he just looks like a bigger loser for not trying to recover his own fumble in what may be the biggest game he ever plays in his life
The last quote is the best though. He won't take any responsibility for the loss. You fumbled the ball with several minutes left in a one score game, and then didn't make an effort to recover it. It's not the only reason they lost, but it was the reason the couldn't come back

Was he?
From a Peter King article today:
Quote:
Manning (13-23, 141 yards, no touchdowns, one interception) has two Super Bowl wins. Period. If John Elway doesn’t get an asterisk for his first Super Bowl win (12-22, 123 yards, no TDs, one pick), and Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t get one for his first (9-21, 123 yards, no TDs, two picks)

Cam just buried himself even worse by dropping "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser. Ok Cam, but here's you with the easiest path and clearest chance to recover the fumble, and of course backing away when given the chance to get it. Seems like he was ok being a loser here.
