Trade deadline deals are all about reaching for band-aid solutions for contending teams. Not sure how you can be sure about what the market will be and what all the other GM's are thinking.
Yeah likely we won't get a lopsided Forsberg like return but you can't tell me Russell doesn't have value, Hudler too, he's only a year removed from a career season.
What has Hudler done this season? His value has plummeted. Russell definitely has some value though.

Hudler can bring a 2nd round pick all day long. Russell can maybe fetch a 1st but most likely a 2nd pick again. Jones can bring a 3rd or 4th round pick. If they want to trade one of the goalies away they may fetch you a 5th or 6th round pick.
Wow, a fluff piece on TJ Brodie! All because Burke said to cover Brodie. The guy deserves it really, Burkes not wrong, he doesnt get the exposure he should.

Played his way off the Flames and likely affected his contract negotiations. A team that needs more scoring and skill in their top six might think it's a good risk to take and he might be motivated to have a good post season to bolster his value. If we can get a 3rd and prospect for him would be fine.
Teams want depth, especially on D, I think Tre can get some good returns that will surprise some people.
Quite often gms look at more than the current season, since lots of teams have the conceit that a player will do better on their team.
I don't disagree with that at all and I'm not saying we'll get absolutely nothing. All I'm saying is their value, both Hudler and Wideman's might be at an all-time low.
