Game is just getting lambasted on metacritic right now. Not sure what to think!

My suggestion is to always, always ignore Metacritic when it comes to a huge game like this. Do you think any of the dorks giving it a 0/10 have actually played the game?

The last page or so has really curtailed my desire to buy a PS4. Jpold must be a little bit upset.

Bethesda gonna Bethesda I guess.
The power armour is handled a bit differently this time around, so its actually not so bad for pacing. imo at least.

It's pretty close by to the starting point.

Why? I have it on PS4 and so far it's fine.

I just read through the user reviews and it seems more like a 4chan or reddit type roast to lower the score. So many 0 scores from users just makes me think they haven't played it or are purposely trying to lower the rating.

I can't say for sure though as I'm not far enough in to give a proper review but like I said the 30min I played on PC so far seemed amazing.

The 0 scores I looked at seemed mostly of the "it's buggy/broken" type, which Bethesda is well known for, or "It's the same as Fallout 3", which was already being talked about before as some people just need a new game to have more gizmos rather than just a new story.

Meh. I'm not really a hardcore gamer. I've always had a Playstation and am pretty loyal to the brand. I don't even know what all this graphics stuff means. I just want an entertaining Fallout game.

I read through a lot of them, and there are a surprising amount of well thought out "0s" that have some points I certainly agree with.

The ME style conversation wheel is dumb as hell.
The constant camping in the uncanny valley during conversations
The lack of ability points while leveling sucks
The changes to some of the perks has made them bland and less enjoyable while forcing you to use the new mechanics
The awful PC UI at launch.

There are also a lot of ridiculous reasons, such as being unhappy that a Bethesda game is being made in a similar style to previous Bethesda games. Whining that the game plays like an FPS, when that was always going to be a huge element of the game.

The issues I mentioned certainly aren't enough to ruin enjoyment of the game. The 0s are certainly a huge overreaction by some mouth breathers who were looking for reasons to hate the game before ever playing it.

It's a solid 8 - 8.5 game. If I compare early experiences, it doesn't come close to the Witcher as far as GOTY, but that can change as I move on pretty easily. In fact I have no idea why I make that comparison this early.

Nobody should ever give anything a 0 unless it's literally unplayable.

If all of those people gave the game a much more reasonable 6 or 7 out of 10, and remove the reviews by the idiots that clearly never played the game, the user score would reflect the quality of the game much better.

But to be fair, there are also people on the other side that give games 10/10 when they don't necessarily deserve it too. I just try to avoid Metacritic's user review section altogether.

You forget, that with Bethesda, there are likely some people legitimately unable to play the game right now. But, yes, you are right. The majority of 0s are hyperbole and are not a good gauge on if the game is good or not.

from all the legit sources i've read, it seems that if you like Fallout 3, you'll like Fallout 4...bugs and all...

its just a more polished version of 3....at the same time, it isn't a great leap forward. Evolutionary rather than Revolutionary.

People recommend playing this game on Hard? Playing previous Fallout games it gets way to easy at the end. I assume this game will be similar?

I knew I should have checked that Steam would download the game before I headed to work; it was stuck at the "Reboot Steam?" prompt 'cause of some update and now I have to download all 24 gb of it.

On the other hand, I was going to watch the hockey game anyway, but I figured I could futz around with character creation and such during commercials and the intermissions. Curses!

That's what I mean by pacing... traditionally power armor was this godly awesome thing that you got late in the game to embark on the last portion like an absolute boss, after spending dozens of hours just desperately scrounging around in the wasteland for anything to sell so you could buy some cheaply made metal armor and maybe not die the next time some raider throws a spear at you. A lot of the greatness of the game is frantically trying to get your bearings in the world and figuring out a way to scrape by. Getting to be a superhuman tank from the get-go sort of defeats the purpose.

Bethesda's view of storytelling appears to be "THIS SUIT IS BADASS COOL! LET'S JUST GIVE IT TO THEM IT'LL BE AWESOMMMMME!" This doesn't surprise me as subtlety was never their forte.

Of course, I'm now criticizing a game I've never played.

Everyone knows power armor now. We all know it's coming. Instead of making us wait, they give it to us. It's a broken down piece of #### that you don't have any good upgrades for and the power cell is half full and will eventually be useless. I parked the thing early on and went on without it.
