I feel sorry for Colborne. You can tell he's really playing with passion, then dozens of worse plays go uncalled and he gets picked out of the crowd for no particular reason, and on top of that he's given an extra 2 for breathing or maybe farting near the ref or whatever their BS excuse was. I was kind of neutral towards him but these playoffs have made me a fan.

Agreed he has found another gear during the playoffs and has looked great. I hope he's part of the long term plans here. Seems like a great guy off the ice too and clearly loves being a Flame.

It was clearly a penalty, even though it was clearly not a 4 minute penalty. They scored on the first two minutes anyway. So aside from robbing 2 minutes of clock time, not sure why that call's been such a sticking point for people.

Because clear penalties were repeatedly ignored the other way. The Ducks were given significant advantages by the officials.

Okay, but that's not really a reason to harp on THIS call, which I do think was a penalty.

As far as the other stuff, okay, sure, if you say so I can't argue that point... it's just that we mock other teams' complaining about the officiating but if there's anything (besides apparently play by play quality) that gets more attention in these threads I don't know what it is. Usually those complaints are mostly confirmation bias, so personally I've adopted a policy of trying to avoid blanket statements about the officiating generally (e.g. "the refs have been helping Team X this game / series") and stick to individual calls. I have to recommend this mindset; keeps the blood pressure down.

What a ridiculous notion.

The quality of the officiating of a game in general does not boil down to how good or bad individual calls are, when it's remarkably frequent that the lack of officiating/calls is the tale of the tape for the refs that night. The Flames have been victimized by this a lot from playing a much more disciplined game than their opponents, and especially so in the playoffs.

Moot point anyway. They aren't going to change the quality of the officiating. The Flames should play a little more dirty and nasty every now and then, glad we have Bennett and Ferland on the roster.

They are not going to roll the dice on his long term health. Nor should they.
