Connor knows that every draft pick in the last six years that has gone to Edmonton has seen their evolution stalled by that organization. He wants to chase Crosby for best player in the league, and instead might end up chasing Hopkins for best forward on a non-playoff team. I hope that his agent puts pressure on Katz to change the management, just for the sake of not ruining someone who could be one of the most entertaining players to come along in years.

Even if McDavid refuses to sign there, they will get an absolute haul if traded, enough to turn around their garbage team. Such BS. How can management/fans even be proud of any future success when they needed 4 1st overall picks to do it? Very soon they're going to run into cap problems and its all going to fall into their top 6 and they'll end up rebuilding again.

Bottom line is even with that top 6, they have a terrible bottom 6, a brutal defense and minor league goaltending, and the price to get what they need is now going to focus on their top 6 forwards.

This is a prime illustration why the NHL shouldn't allow teams to draft top 3 two years in a row.
