Powerplay Quarterback

It's a shoulder injury that much is known.
I'm guessing they are debating whether he has to go under the knife or not.

No update on prognosis or timeline on Giordano, Treliving added. #Flames
Hard to determine if this vagueness is a positive or a negative.

This whole Giordano fiasco really highlights how we need to get some bluechip D prospects in the system. It's pretty scary how one player going down is likely going to impact our team, and not in the good way.

Gio has proven to be the most vital player on the Flames roster. His stats in all categories prove that.
The Flames will suffer it is just a matter of how much.
Without out Gio even on paper the D looks not nearly as effective.
Brodie Wideman
Russell Diaz (Waiver Diaz is not a top 4.
Engelland Smid
Wotherspoon if Smid is not fully recovered.
Gio can compensate for the loss of any D man on the Flames because he can play any role.
But we are fooling ourselves if to believe Wideman or Russell are equal to Gio or Brodie.
Wideman offensively gifted but slow.
Russell quicker than Wideman but has struggled putting up points this season.
Diaz and Engelland are a nightmare in their own zone and that is suppose to be the strength of any 3rd pairing. Now Diaz will likely only because of process of elimination is going to get 2nd line minutes yikes.
Smid last season was a decent shut down. We need Smid to a better shut down than Diaz has been.
Might sound strange but if Smid and Engelland can play rugged like we know they can it will ease some of this transition.
Diaz on the 2nd pairing is a mess though. Not a Diaz fan.

All I've heard officially is that it is upper body, via the score app, but the Flames have revealed absolutely nothing so even that could be false.

Ok everyone relax, he only has a strain in his upper mid back. He's sore he will be back in two game's.
It's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.
The Flames are trying to land a certain Defenceman and they are slow on reporting this because then they are behind the 8 ball, and then are labeled desperate.
So deep breathe!

How...what...are all of you people insiders with the team or something? All we know is upper body (speculating shoulder/elbow/wrist) and it doesn't look good?

Yeah I hope that's true but if he had a mild strain why wouldn't the team would have said that?
The info lockdown suggests this is a pretty bad injury.

Sell what? Most of this team is the team we'll be seeing next season with the possible exception of guys like Glencross and Stajan or Raymond....outside of Glencross there isnt a whole helluva lot of value there.

Giordano update per Bob Hartley: "most likely he will not play tonight. But we know Gio we know how much of a warrior he is" #Flames #Isles
This doesn't sound overly pessimistic!

Going to be honest here, if it was nothing serious you would have heard about it the next day. Irrespective of whether they are telling the truth or not; whenever you hear players so "they don't know" when giving an update on their teammates injuries it's usually an injury of some sort of severity.
That would add credence to the theory that maybe a trade was lined up and now if they reveal the true extent of the injury they're either going to get fleeced on the trade, or jeopardize it altogether.
In my opinion, there is no way they don't know what the nature of the injury is. It's now just about revealing what they want, and when they want.

Everybody relax. But where there is smoke there is fire. No different then Darian Durant last summer. Team says nothing for a week, all kinds of speculation and rumours. And then boom injury is diagnosed and released to public. My guess they know god dam well what the severity is but they are looking at options to go from here now. Guaranteed its ligament or soft tissue injury.
