The selfish part of me wants him here to close out the season. Hartley said he would have made the team out of camp.

Also mentioned by Eric Francis (I know, I know) on one of the Flames broadcasts over the holidays.

I think he is up with the Flames until he is 100% healthy. At that point, the Flames will make a decision as to where he goes next. Either Kingston for the season, Addy for a conditioning stint or stay in Calgary
My bet is Kingston. Woulde love to see him and Crouse light it up in the OHL playoffs.

I wonder where Bennett would've been slotted had he been on the WJC team. Would he have stayed at center? Been moved to the wing?
Too bad we didn't get to see how he stacked up against the best of the best his age.

I think you let him get to 100% with the Flames and then let him play his 9 games.

I don't know if sending out an 18 year old coming off major surgery into the thick of the playoff drive is the best for his development, even if he does go to Addy for his two week conditioning stint
But who knows, maybe he shows something in practise that Hartly likes that warrants a 9 game trial.
Wouldn't be the end of the world.

I don't want him to be 9-gamed with the Flames. He needs as much top 6 ice time as possible the remainder of the season to make up for missed time. Let's not forget he was one of the younger players drafted last year so it's important they don't rush this guy as although I think he has potential to be a better overall player than Monahan he's not nearly as ready physically.

He probably would have been slotted behind Reinhart, who despite being from the same draft year is older and isn't eligible for the tournament next year while Bennett is. Bennett could still play in the 2016 World Juniors, though I think we'll see in in Calgary full time.

IIRC they didn't start McDavid at center so it's certainly possible.

Yeah, maybe. McDavid - Reinhart - Bennett, Reinhart - McDavid - Benett. Reinhart - Bennett - McDavid. Or hell maybe 4th behind Petan. Always a chance one of him or Petan played the wing on a top line instead. McDavid started on the wing no? So yeah, after Reinhart?
Or heck, maybe the 18 year old Bennett gets cut all together. Just speculating.

Send him to the AHL for his conditioning stint. If he is lights out there, then you consider keeping him for the NHL, otherwise, send him back to junior and let him play some important minutes.

Send him back to Kingston as soon as he is ready for game action. Silly for him to jump into pro games against NHL-AHL players in mid season form while he hasnt played in half a year.

I think we know tomorrow's QOTD.
I'd send him down. As someone else said up there, he will have missed 6-7 months of development. Let him regain his touch playing top minutes in juniors, then if that's proving to be too easy for him, call him up for 9 games, depending on where we are in the season. If we're not in playoff contention, then the most likely scenario is that we'd have traded away a guy or two, so call him up and just ride the season out with him playing on the second line as a winger. Or something.
