But really, you couldn't have posted a new poll on your phone during the reception or something?

very late to this discussion..
Once again sorry for the delay, I'm sure that was driving everyone nuts.
I picked Bennett.
Rationale - I see these polls as a prediction based version of "who's the best Flames player of all time?" from a list of players that haven't become Flames yet.
Will Bennett rank higher than Gaudreau when we look back at their careers in 20 years? I think so.
The Monahan vs Bennett at development camp thing. Not sure I agree. Monahan last summer was as advertized. Not very fast, not flashy, steady and good in all areas. Bennett was quick, and had some highlight reel players.
The big thing for me though is age. Monahan was 18.73 years old at last year's camp. Bennett was 18.03 at this year's camp. At that age ... not even comparable. Almost a full year of development between them at a first camp against older players for the first time.

Curious if anyone would switch to Bennett after seeing him in a few preseason games now.

Seeing your handle pretty sure you want the opposite reaction...people switching from Bennett to Gaudreau. Either way i'm glad to have both of them.

I'm a flames fan first & a Johnny fan second.
Just curious to see if the preseason has changed peoples opinions seeing as a lot of people had not seen a ton from Bennett up till the past couple weeks.

Johnny isn't a hockey player he's a magician. Sam is a possible future captain (he'll have to duke it out with Monahan). It's a great time to be a Flames fan.

I voted Gaudreau and I would vote that way again, after watching camp.
I have to say that Bennett has been better in camp than I expected him to be. But Johnny has been terrific and the point that keeps him ahead for me is that he is ready this year.
Who has the higher upside? The sky is the limit for both.
So deciding factor is NHL readiness for me.

If pressed, yes, I would probably switch my pick from Gaudreau to Bennett.
Gaudreau is ridiculously skilled and will almost certainly be a consistent point producer in the NHL for years and years. He's a remarkable hockey player to watch, and he is "ours". That's exciting.
I was extremely impressed by Bennett, however. I was surprised at just how complete his game is for an 18 year-old, and how well his high compete level translates to the next level in terms of observable results. I now understand why he garnered such lofty projections and eminent comparisons from scouts, fans and pundits leading up to the draft. He looks like a gem of a prospect, and I can already envision him as a leader for this team for a good long while. That's also exciting.

Bennett was a lot better than I was expecting too but I'm still currently more pumped about Gaudreau..
I'm super pumped to have both of them in a few years in their primes..
