It's suspicious, especially if he deleted his LinkedIn profile.
For a guy who had a social media presence, was obviously well-known (check out how many comments are on his law school status update), and was going for a career into Law with no discernible mental problems, it is odd.
Barely anyone on LinkedIn doesn't have a photo.

People usually panic and run for their lives. Flight usually wins out over fight.

Ya, a lot of internet heroes think this way. Reality is, if you see someone hacking people up with a knife at you have the ability to GTFO, you GTFO.

Again, taking one person down.. maybe 2. Sure, but how the hell did he manage to not only get in proximity of, but actually murder 5 people??

The question becomes why are people evil.
It is much easier to understand mental illness as a reason for people doing evil things then people just being evil. Also if it is mental illness we know that society can create a solution for it. If it is just a person being randomly evil with no rational for choosing victims its much scarier.
So I perfer to be comforted by the thought that it is likely someone with a poorly managed mental illness and not someone who is just evil.

Everyone involved is roughly my age. Scary.
A good friend of mine is mutual friends with the suspect on FB. I told him and he's freaking out.

Victims may have been caught off-guard, people stood frozen and didn't realize what was happening, and suspect gets to his targets while people are caught between fleeing and helping the other victims.
I've been in a couple harrowing situations. I know I freeze while I'm realizing what's going on, then take off.

Who's to say someone didn't try? This would have been absolute chaos and surreal, people who haven't had any exposure to a situation even remotely similar would likely go into panic mode. Remember the beheading on the bus? Much the same you can't blame the people because the majority of people panic and in these types of situations would protect themselves, and the best way to protect yourself is flight if you aren't the direct target. It's deeply saddening and I can't imagine the terror that the people at the party went through trying to wrap there heads around what was likely happening very quickly around them

Definitely not mainstream cool but for the headbanger clique it's a cool name to rep on a t-shirt.

Not to make light of the situation but it really doesn't seem that far fetched especially since he was an invited guest.
stab two people in the kitchen walk into the living room stab two more and get the third as they are leaving.
People standing unaware are basically defenseless and the home isn't likely that big so people are pretty close and stabbing with a kitchen knife likely kills pretty easy with no immediate medical help.
