This is like being the 8th person hit by a drunk driver for Barrie.

I'd be just as furious at the league as I am the individual.

NHLs own fault.

They let people run around kneeing people in the Chicago series but don't do anything because nobody was hurt.

Now it happens again by Cooke who shouldn't be playing in the NHL anymore anyways.

And that is not as much the NHLs fault since they can't suspend him for life, but these teams like the Wild and Pens that keep employing him should be ashamed.

@KevinWeekes had an awesome rant on @NHLTonight, wish I had a video of it that I could post. He mentioned #Boneheadplay and it is interesting to see the tweet responses.

Did bordelau return after the slash? Was thinking broken thumb or something that's a tough dud there.

Also, when Cooke retires where do you think the parade will be held?

Can someone explain something to me that I don't get. It seems like knee on knees are like a kamikaze if 2 knees collide why does just the one go out and not both? I feel so bad for Barrie man, Jesus, Cooke has got to go.

How many chances does a guy need to be given? Every time a dirt bag like Cooke takes out a star player that hurts the NHL. Get rid of him.

This latest Cooke incident really should surprise no one. I've been saying for years Matt Cooke is the most dangerous man to ever play in the NHL. He's not remotely close to the toughest player to play but there's never been a guy that looked to exploit prone players over and over again. It goes all the way back to his years as a Canuck where he would constantly head hunt. I used to be relieved when Flames players escaped injury after a Flames/Canucks game with Cooke flying in corners with high elbows. He may have toned it down for a couple of years but in the heat of the moment his predatory instincts come out and his instincts have always been to seek out opportune moments to hurt opposing players. I'm sure the player union is readying their case as we speak to defend this thug but maybe it's time they looked in the mirror and realized it's their job to protect guys like Barrie rather than the guy that continues to put their players on the IR.

i know it's bad to say, but if the league doesn't throw him out of the league, then one can only hope he gets Cooke'd and knocked out permanently from the league. No man deserves such a fate but Cooke deserves nothing less.

Listening to the Fan 960 this morning they mentioned that there is a mechanism in the new CBA protecting offending players from having their previous incident history being brought into the equation for a new suspension and that only incidents in the 18 months preceding the current incident can be looked at.

If true, this is pure rubbish. Karma must be drunk an lazy because it sure hasn't done its job with Matt Cooke - screw you Karma!

Friedman tweeted this last night so I'm not sure what's right:

“@FriedgeHNIC: Although Cooke has not been punished in last 18 months, NHL considers that status only relevant for fines. It believes language of CBA...”

“@FriedgeHNIC: allows for history to factor in number of games a player can be suspended for.”

“@FriedgeHNIC: Finally, should add that Cooke can appeal any suspension of 6 games or longer”

I don't know much about unions and dues but this made me think.

If a player is on long term injury and is being paid by insurance and not team payroll will the union still get it's dues?

Maybe reformed Pat Kaleta should call previously but no longer reformed Matt Cooke and offer him advice on how to once again reform.

Disagree. Matt Cooke can play a solid game and is not a useless player. He plays his role but it's time he's booted from the game.
