Luongo had to face 4 or 5 good chances today and looked solid

I guess we can agree to disagree. I think Price is their guy. And I wouldn't really put too much stock into playoff/international play. Lou has been a complete gong show in the playoffs before and in 2010 he just held the fort, he didn't play fantastic hockey.
But like I said, both are good goalies. It's not cut and dry either way.

Luongo looked better than Price. Who starts vs. Finland? I think it's still Price. He didn't really lose his spot, if he was the guy going into the tourney.
Who are the scratches? I want them to be Kunitz and Vlasic.
|
I'd ride Luongo
Edit: that sounds terrible

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 19s
Just guessing, but in '10, Luongo opened vs weak opp (NOR), Brodeur 2nd game vs. SUI, 3rd game vs. USA. Only when MB faltered did RL return.

I hope Subban stays in.
I think Luongo gets the start Sunday.
Kunitz looks out of place.
I think Giordano would look good there.

Give it to Price, Luongo is better coming off the bench in the event we need our back up.

Price, Kunitz, and Subban not going in are my nominees. I really want to see if Crosby can get going with different line mates.
If Price was shakier, I'd want to see if he's actually worse than Luongo or if the couple mistakes were just isolated factors. But I think Luongo is Babcock's starter.

The thing with Luongo is, I think you want to give the guy who won it for you last time the net until he loses it with his play. Same thing they did with Brodeur last time. Price should have another chance at this in 2018 unless Luongo can't hack it against the Finns. And to anyone saying he was just okay in 2010, he had a .927 save percentage in a best on best tourney, that's nothing to sneeze at. Without his third period performance there's a decent chance we lose to Slovakia.
As for the scratches, the forward is definitely tough but after today there's just no way it can be Duchene or Carter. It could be MSL but I hope not. Kunitz has been bad two games in a row. Give Benn his spot.
Meanwhile, on defense, Vlasic has been just okay for two straight games. I really just think unless PK hurt himself there in the third, keep him in. He's the type of guy who could give you a goal when you really need it.

I'd go with Luongo on Sunday. For whatever reason this year he looks more relaxed and I have more confidence in him not too give up weak untimely goals than I do Price.

I'm much more confident with either goalie this time around, I think both Price and Luongo are up for the challenge.

I think the reason our jerseys are so bad is because we sold Austria our good ones...

I think that's exactly Vlasic's role - steady and unnoticeable. He's the #5/6 defenseman. He's playing his role perfectly and I think he stays in. Subban's out... likely for the rest of the tournament barring an injury.

As for forwards and defence I'd sit Kunitz who's looked out of place both games so far, and Subban for the D , as Doughty and Weber are providing more than enough offence from the back end and Subban offers nothing defensively but stress for everyone.

I would sit Subban and St. Louis.
Much more comfortable having Hamhuis and Sharp in.

Carter says he tried to give the game puck to Luongo, he didn’t want it.

I'd add Pietrangelo to defence chipping in on the other side. He was pinching and led quite a few rushes early. Seems to communicate really well with Bouwmeester and the two kept the puck moving really effectively on several occasions.

yep thats why I think Subban definitely sits
if we lose one of Keith/Weber/Doughty I would much rather go with the options in Hamhuis or Vlasic that we know are going to be solid in their own end
offense from the back end is a plus but not a need, would much rather have the safe bet than the risk
