I think the point is that it's much better to take a player on a two month hot streak for your 10-day tournament than it is to take a player who is slightly better on average.

I think he is more than slightly better. This is a guy that has been a much better offensive contributor than Backlund, not just marginally better.

He's been much better once (11-12). Otherwise the average difference between the two is around 5 or 6 points.
Defensively however, Backlund plays a better all-around game.
I'm not saying Backlund deserved it over Marcus, but it's not as simple as saying "take the guy who was better two seasons ago"

This year the difference is 7 points. Last year it was 6. The year before was 21. The difference is 40 points over their short careers. Johansson has shown an ability to produce as a top 6 forward. Backlund has not. With being the replacement for Sedin, it really is that simple.

More than slightly better?
The difference in points is entirely due to the PP. 5 on 5, Backlund is out-producing him. (neither of them would be seeing a lot of PP time for Sweden in all likelihood).
And Backlund is better defensively.
Saying he is more than a slightly better can only be based on what they did prior to this year. It simply isn't true today.

Yeah sorry, note what Enoch said. You can't make accurate analysis of a player based strictly on NHL.com's stat line.
It really is that simple

I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
But I would much prefer the player that has been consistently better.

and you can't make an accurate analysis when you are butt hurt because your own player didn't go.
I hate the Caps and everything about them. I have no reason to say Johansson is better other than the fact I believe he is. Obviously Sweden agrees with me.

Huh? I enjoy Johansson far more than Backlund. So I'm not sure what sort of point you're trying to make.

I don't think anyone's butt hurt here, just debating some players. But if you think calling us homers strengthens your argument, well okay then.

I thought that Puckluck didn't end up going through with the bet, or just purposely had himself banned to avoid it?

Is this Puckluck the guy who once said something like: "I have money, I don't care about money, I can bet whatever amount I want and I don't care if I lose, because I have the money." Anyhow, is he paying it?
