NESN is absolutely gushing about Iginla right now. The colourman talking about his dedication and compete level, and Jack Edwards talking about how Iggy pretty much dragged the Flames up the standings for many years.
Then they flip into trashing Ovechkin for now being -32, and only one back of Yakupov. Edwards then described Yakupov as being "oh so full of himself". Thus concludes this bonus edition of Edmonton is No Good.

The 05 lockout was at the peak of his career - that one alone cost him 40-50
Plus maybe 15 in the last lockout.
So 50 in total is being very conservative IMO (which is what we should be of course)
Yeah I didn't wanna throw out a huge number but you're right in 04-05 he would have hit 40 for sure with the way he was playing the year before. That lockout came at the wrong time for Iggy and the Flames.
Fantastic.
Amazing consistency, missing out on that one year (1999-2000) by 1 goal, and the year before by 2...would mean every year for the past 15, outside of last year's 48 game season, he'd have 30 goals.
All this with a quiet class that we can only expect from the greatest Calgary Flame.
The storyline as the Bruins continue to progress in the playoffs will somewhat mimic Bourque and his quest for a Cup, except unlike the ultra-egomaniac Bourque, Iginla won't play that up and turn that into the Ray Boruque and Coloardo Avalanche, as was done did those two years in Colorado (and the leadup before he got traded).
And if the Bruins win, I fully expect Chara to pass the Cup to Iginla first, except Iginla will try to decline, or, sheepishly accept...whereas Sakic didn't have both hands on it before Bourque snatched it away and claimed it as his own.
Iginla also wouldn't accept (nor would an organization like the Bruins offer) Boston retiring his number like Bourque gladly did with Colorado and lapped up for extra attention.
.whereas Sakic didn't have both hands on it before Bourque snatched it away and claimed it as his own.
.
I don't see that at all. I think Sakic fully intended to pass it out to Bourque. He reaches out and hands it straight to him, and doesn't hoist it himself.

I suppose the next question is if he will end up leading the team in points. Two behind Kreicji now.. and hard to pass him since they are on the same line
Bruin fans think he's one of the hardest workers on the team. No surprise since the haters made up his "lazy" play to suit their hatred. Iginla is a beast. Feels like yesterday he hit 500 and now I think he has something like 560 now. I think he can hit 700 by the time his career is done.
