As long as you have time to wait it out, I would not do this.
Let us not default on our obligations. Let us not stop the checks to our needy who are counting on us. Let us not use our elderly as political pawns in trade for a seven second sound byte back home. They deserve better. We have a responsibility to pay our bills.

The Senate deal lifts the debt ceiling through Feb. 7, re-opens the shuttered government through Jan. 15 and sets up bicameral budget conference tasked with sending policy recommendations by Dec. 13. It will include a provision to enforce a part of Obamacare where subsidy recipients have to verify their income eligibility first. It won't include a previously considered plan to delay a reinsurance tax under the health care law.

No, just a temporary reprieve. You can be sure the Teabaggers will be back in force in Jan/Feb. The lesson they'll take from this total defeat won't be, "Never again should we hold the US economy hostage unless we get our way." Rather, their takeaway message will be, "How can we adjust our strategy so we get more concessions from the Democrats in three months?"
Stupid. People should be calling and yelling only at the Tea Party morons who are the cause of this, not a random rational, sane member of Congress.

I know it's popular to bash everyone in Washington as being equally worthless, but there really are decent people in both parties who work for the best interests of their country and their constituents. Congress is so dysfunctional and divided at the moment because a small number of Tea Party extremists have seized de facto control of the Republican Party.

Some people are saying that it could come up again as soon as mid-November.
That's when the posturing will start, for sure.
"Do this now or we'll hold it against you in January when it comes time to vote on the debt ceiling and people are still feeling the post-holiday pinch!"
In the short term (~2 months), the deal is pretty much a total victory for the Democrats. The Republicans didn't win any concessions of substance, and public opinion turned sharply against them for manufacturing this completely unnecessary crisis. Who knows how it will play out in the long-term, though. I wouldn't be surprised if we're right back in the same situation in December/January with the Tea Party members of Congress pointing a gun at the head of the US economy and threatening to pull the trigger unless they get their way.

The majority of politicians in both parties act in the best interest of their backers and nobody else. There is a severe leadership vacuum in Washington right now, and no politicians are interested in tackling the major issues that the US imminently faces.

It's been suggested that Ted Cruz's self interest in taking over the GOP and running in 2016 has caused this whole mess. His 40 pals will be rewarded nicely if he is successful. I hope the American public can see this, but I'm not confidant they vote with their brains, as opposed to whichever loud object that is not a Democrat, or a Kenyan.
Cruz is no better than Palin and is completely unelectable since he can't attract moderates.
The good news is that he will not delay expediting the Senate vote. He (or any other senator) could have single-handedly delayed the vote a couple days, pushing a resolution back and putting the country at risk of default.
Republicans won. We'll see another showdown in the new year.
