Good episode, not as good as last week but still entertaining. It really made no sense for Monica to switch sides with one of Tina or Laura possibly coming back from redemption. She is going to have to defend that non move to the jury though. Finale Sunday, should be a gooder.

I don't think it matters who comes back now, that alliance won't break period. Which I think is foolish since Tyson is going to be the clear cut million dollar winner if he gets in front of the jury.
Gervais is going to get raped by the Jury, no question, I don't think anyone respects the loud mouth.
Monica had a chance to be able to stand in front of the jury and state, I made a big move and won challenges.
instead she can stand there and say I did what Tyson told me, and won some challenges.
I doubt Ciera has another immunity win in her so she's going to get picked off in the next tribal, as will the person from redemption Island. This might come out as one of the most predictable endings since Amber completely dominated her game and won.

I wonder if Laura wins the next challenge, will she hand immunity over to her daughter?

Hmmm, the only way that can work is if they turn Monica.
with only 5 people left, that has to happen after the return of redemption island, that becomes huge.
If one of Tyson's allies comes out of redemption island then Monica gets a big target as number 4 at some point soon.
If Hayden comes back its irrelevant unless they can switch Monica.

Something I wanted to ask all y'all here:
Can the hidden immunity idol be "stolen"?
They were showing Haydon monkeying around looking for it, and he said something like "I think Tyson might have it again."...what is preventing someone from going through someone else's stuff when they (or the rest of their alliance) isn't around and nicking it? They can't have a lot of 'stuff' in camp, I'd think it would be pretty easy to snoop through and see if there's an idol or not. Or do you think that the person who's got it keeps it on them or in visual sight at all times?
You'd think that the person who found it would check it before each tribal...but if someone else has stolen it, who would fess up, and would there be any recourse to 'force' them to fess up?
Or is stealing an immunity idol just not done?
I ask because it seems to me that almost everyone in the shows I've seen that have an immunity idol (only 2 seasons) seems to think that if they, personally, don't have it, then no one does...which seems kind of stupid to me.
Makes me wonder how hard it'd be (despite how ethically dubious as it would be) to keep tabs on what your fellow survivors do and don't have in the little bit of stuff they do have in camp.

People can go through each others bags. It's happened often enough and idols have been found by searching through the bags of other castaways. But they can't steal idols. The person has to give his idol away to lose possession of it. It wasn't shown but one time someone found the idol of another contestant and thew it in the ocean but they just gave the guy another idol to replace it.
The more complicated issue is if someone found an idol and gave it to an alliance member (let's say they had pockets) to hide it, then the possession I believe does transfer to that player. So you do have to be careful handing out an idol for "safe keeping".

I think you should be allowed to steal the idol.

You could argue that it's a hidden immunity idol, and it was just hidden in the guy's bag. I like it.

The immunity idol USED to be able to be played like that in past seasons.
Now, the hidden immunity idol can only be played before the votes. It's more of a gamble. The player has to think they're a threat to play it. Which makes blindsiding even more important.

I think that if survivor is going to keep going the game has to be changed slightly.
I still argue that the Jury concept isn't great because its failed in its fundemental function of awarding the best player and just becomes a catty b%tch birth staffed by people who got outplayed but refuse to understand it.
I like the idea that they should add raiding to the game, where you can go to the other teams camp and steal stuff and that includes the immunity idol from the challenge.
I mean wouldn't it be awesome if you had an extra player in a challenge and sent him off to steal food while the other team is distracted, or sneak up in the middle of the night and take the idol and then show up at tribal and play it forcing the other team to suddenly have to go to tribal council.
remove the no physicallity aspect during all challenges. If you can trip up or obstruct an opponent it might lead to nascar like team ups where if you block out so and so and help me win the challenge, I'll do this for you. Make the alliances really meaningful and ruthless.

oh and bring the American Gladiators in for one challenge, especially when the players are at their weakest, probably best done during the team challenge.
Imagine your team having to play powerball against well fed gladiators. It would be an awesome cross over.

I like the jury system. The game is literally on 24 hours a day. We only get edited clips of 1 hour, so there is so much more going on than we realize.

I think you might be misunderstanding what we meant by after the votes. After the votes are cast, but prior to being revealed, the hidden immunity idol can be played is what I was getting at. I think you're on the same page but if you believe that the Hidden Immunity Idol can only be played before people go up to cast their vote that's incorrect because Tyson just wasted his last idol after the votes were cast but before they were revealed 2 or 3 episodes ago.
It's looking more and more like Tyson has this but he has to be a weaker winner if he does end up getting the million. A wasted hidden immunity idol and drawing rocks with another idol in his pocket isn't good game play.

Right.
No, it isn't at all. Perhaps it's a product of a weaker group of competitors - at this stage of the game, anyway.

I'd rather waste an idol than go home with one in my pocket. That big guy from the China Survivor (James?) who went home with 2 idols probably still feels like a tool. As for drawing rocks, that wasn't done until after the 2nd vote. I don't think Tyson would have been allowed to play his idol after the first vote.

Not using an immunity idol and getting out is terrible obviously. But using an immunity idol incorrectly is wasting the most valuable item in the game.
And sure he wasn't allowed to use his next idol after the tie vote was revealed but certainly could have done it before. So I would argue that's twice he misused his idols which alone puts him out of the elite winner category. And more importantly he put his fate in the hands of the rocks when he didn't have to. A 1/3 chance to be kicked off with an idol in his pocket instead of voting for Monica? Final 5 (5.5 I guess with Redemption...) with a hidden immunity idol had to be a much better odds than those rocks which even after winning he's still no lock for winner (getting there but a final 4 immunity challenge win going to Cierra/Comeback player probably costs him anyways).
On a different note, I wish Survivor was "live" like Big Brother so there wasn't the narratives being played. It was obvious that Tyson was going to make it far after just watching the first couple episodes and all the monologues he gets compared to all of the other contestants voted out earlier while you could almost guarantee Hayden wasn't going to win (ready to be shocked Sunday if he does now). Big Brother might push a story but they don't know the outcome so they have to give a bit more 'fair' of an edit.

Hayden may not win this one, but he'll definitely be back.
He's a great survivor contestant for them. When the chips were down, he was great.

Well, of the four left, I don't want to see any of them win. But...it's hard to argue against Tyson's game.
