End of the day this guy is a project who on the high end could turn out to be a Douglas Murray type player if he develops.
Hell never be an offensive threat and he still has lots of work to do on his speed/agility. On NHL sized ice his mobility as of right now would be more of an issue. Hopefully he can continue to improve.
Vandemeer always struck me as being very athletic as well, and at times used that athleticism to get him out of trouble. As he aged, he lost that aspect.
If kanzig ends up with a vandemeer career, we got a good one in the third round.
That is a better level or comparison than Chara.

At the draft they handed out ISS draft guides and I finally got it out to see what they said because of this thread. The blurb on him is that he has average skating. The way he has been talked about in here it sounds like his skating needs a ton of work or is below average.
I think he was given a bit of a raw deal early on and glad he is getting the recognition he deserves. Not that much of a reach being ranked 74 (euros included).
hehe looks like Keegan's twitter account was compromised...

Bump, don't know where to put this but went to the game in Regina last night and was able to focus solely on Kanzig because Klimchuck had already been shipped out of town.
The guy is a man playing with boys out there! Because he is so big he actually needs to partially bend over to hit a player which puts him in a very awkward position. During the game he didn't really stand out, he is going to be your basic stay at home style defenceman. I don't see much upside on production but lets face it, that has never been his game.
Although he covers a large area it does look like he needs to continue working on his skating, he never got beat by anyone but he did have to use his stick to reach more than I would like to see(when a body on body check or rub out would have been suffice)
But for those who simply label him a goon, I say go watch the kid play, he is anything but a goon. It looks like he actually knows that his size could be dangerous at this level and dials it down some so as to not hurt the opposing player. He's still got a long ways to go but give him time to fully adjust to his body, get into the pro game against men and then we will truly know what we have.
How has was he on his skates? One of the things I really noticed is he frequently got knocked off balance and ended up on the ice in the young stars tournament.

He seemed a bit more sturdy imo, I think he had trouble with the guys that are 5'10 as their centre of gravity is so much lower so they are able to hit him lower on his body than say someone over 6'. I mean the guy is huge, long legs, I watched him come over the boards at shift change and most guys have a ways to go to reach the ice, not him, he puts his leg over and is touching the damn ice!
I think he will be a better pro than he is junior, just because he will be playing against more players over 6' and he won't be as worried about wrecking some guy's life with a hit. He has a hard time with the size difference imo.
