sounds like I will be getting evacuated... just got home from my walk to see if I can help, but these neighborhoods will not look the same in a few days if we end up getting the double water flows on the elbow.
This is real, this is the one you get to tell you grand kids about.

Can't you just ride that flood wave right out of town?

As others have mentioned I would be happy to help anyone out that needs it. Whether it is having you over for dinner or putting you and your pets up for the night, just let me know.
Take care people!

I don't know the topography of these areas, all I can really do is look at a map. I can't really tell how much a slope there is down to the Elbow from there. But looking at a map, I'd say the west part of Riverbend and the southern part of Douglasdale are the "likely" they're talking about.

not too soon. I don't know why our tax dollars go to people who live in a place called high river that floods every year.

I had a mechanic tell me last week that they are dealing with more rust damage on cars in Calgary than in previous years, likely because Calgary is getting to be more humid. I don't remember Calgary flooding as frequently as it does now when I was a kid - I think we are slowly becoming a more temperate climate.

Some residents may evacuate by travelling south on Highway 22X. Any residents who are not able to leave their property on their own should call 911 through their cell phones or land lines if access is still available. If residents do not have access, they will be reached by door-to-door efforts.

Oldman River in Lethbridge will reach 3000 m3/s... more than double the Elbow. She's got steep banks though and not much development near the river.
