I have little confidence Feaster will get a decent return for Iginla. Feaster's not a hockey guy and I'm pretty sure we'd get some second tier players in return.

It's the time of the year that GMs feel like getting one more piece will get you a cup. Very very few roster players are off limits. Even less so for non-roster players.

No offense taken. I can't speak for Pens fans, but I don't see the Bruins trading any roster player in their top 6. Horton maybe, but I would be really surprised. And I disagree on roster players not being untouchable. When you're going for a cup and your team is good, you look to add players, not just lateral moves like giving up a top 6 forward for another top 6. It doesn't make sense. It's an arms race. You need depth.
$ven, I can't see what's so special with Spooner either honestly. I just know he's drooled over by many B's fans and when he finally got in the game the other night he was on the top line.

Haha I can't be the only one who thought this was a tweet and spent the last minute trying to decipher what the hell the context was...

Well then you can scratch Boston off the rumour list. Hamilton is going to be a stud. He's our replacement when Chara retires. Not going anywhere. I guess it's down to LA and Chicago.

If the Flames are expecting a prospect of Hamilton's stature back for Iginla, they're not going to find any takers.

He's definitely a streaky player, last year he was a healthy scratch for a poor attitude. Was brilliant in the World Juniors though.

Awesome. Glad you and a few others here are hashing things out.
Be sure to let us and the Bruins/Flames brass know when you've reached and agreement.

Tough times indeed. I wouldn't be all that jazzed if we recieved a high 1st round pick either given our horrible drafting history either.

Is Pittsburgh somehow out of the mix for a top 2 line RW after they added a 3rd line LW?

Alright, you guys are obviously edgy about this and I understand why. I've been following the Bruins for almost 30 years and know that most here don't as closely as I do so I thought I'd share what my opinion is on the roster. If you don't like it and want to keep your hopes up for Seguin + Hamilton + 1st round pick + Subban be my guest. I'm just letting you know what the feeling is from Boston regarding certain players.
I'm also a Flames fan and hope whatever happens gets Calgary back in the playoffs and in contention sooner than later. This city is a better place to live in when the Flames are winning.
Cheers

No, but with so many big contracts they're going to need cheaper guys too - i.e. prospects. I can't see them giving up too many more and certainly not what the Flames would want. Who knows tho I guess, right?

At the end of the day the Penguins didn't give up all that much. Joe Morrow is a very good prospect but the Penquins have 3-4 good guys on D. They also moved up about 60 spots in the draft by doing so swapping pics.
They still have Derrick Pouliot and Olli Maata and they still have their first round pick in this upcoming draft.

The way I was thinking Pitt pulled the previous deal off and still have their first, and Morrow can replace Bennett after he's included in the iginla deal? I don't know anything about Bennett, just what other people have been speculating. Like you said, who knows.

not saying Hamilton is off the table, but if Boston has Hamilton as part of the deal, its going to be DH+a 3rd... or something like that.
People expecting multiple picks back from Iggy including Hamilton are going to be disappointed, as I don't think Boston is going to mortgage their future that much...
though I am hopeful they will, I just don't think Boston's GM is that desperate considering they just won the Cup 2 years ago.

So if anyone in those first two groups are who you'd like back for Iginla, don't rush to the game tonight because it won't be his last game as a Flame.

If that is true then Boston isn't getting Iginla.

Well, first, no one has lined up a package that you have there. It's a hyperbole and I understand your point but youre looking for a quality acquisition without acknowledging that it takes quality in return. The deals at previous trade deadlines and the deal for Morrow show that GMs aren't scared to make a move for the now when they feel their close.
Secondly, while its interesting to hear from other fan bases, you're simply stating your opinion as a Bruins fan, not Boston like you state. The weight I give that opinion isn't great, but it is nice to have a counterpoint to Flames' fans opinions.
