Jones played 9:31, Comeau played 13:58, including 6:09 in the third, 3rd amongst Flames Forwards. Glencross at 6:11 and Tanguay at 6:44.

Or maybe he just practiced, regardless, it's still something that he does better than Comeau and jackman. And something that the flames, as a team, doesn't do very well.

Comeau has had over 11 minutes in TOI in 4 of our last 5 games.
He's not just playing "5 minutes a game", so it is an understandable concern.

He's a soon to be UFA, so he'll most likely be gone soon anyways. The only reason that he gets the ice time he does IMO is that he's a big body, something the Flame seriously lack.

Yeah, exactly my point. I didn't even know he was that good this season, but almost 60 percent is awesome.

On a team that is hurting for centers the move doesn't make sense.

Agreed 100 percent. I'm not sure if you we're agreeing with my original post you quoted or misread it, but I don't see any benefit to waiving jones.

Soon to be a UFA, so he'll be gone? That is what a lot of us saying last year and then Feaster re-signed him.
Simply put, we have no center depth. You also have none that can win a faceoff. So might as well waive a center who wins faceoffs and convert a bad winger who is a blackhole of offense into a center and play him many minutes on a line with your slumping franchise player.
Please, somebody explain this to me.

I will explain
Blair Jones was put on waivers because management has something in the works to improve on our center ice position. 14 hours to go until we find out the next step.

Why not waive the useless guy on the team who makes 1.25M instead of the guy who goes balls to the wall for your team, wins faceoffs and makes 650K?

Maybe something is up and Feaster needs to get rid of a spot/contract.
Let's face it.........Comeau would not get claimed.
We'll know more in the next day or two what Feaster is up to.

its not like he is taking important draws...he is 60% against the other teams 4th line center who is probably a goon anyway

Agreed. Like I said earlier in this thread, I think it is the contract spot they need. Teams will bite on Jones, not so much Comeau.

Amen to that. It's not that Jones is the saviour of the team, it's that his speed and his work ethic are what the team needs. By waiving him, I got the vibe that that management has no idea what the game of hockey is supposed to look like. Hopefully he gets picked up, and goes on to be a very reliable energy guy forechecking hard and preventing other teams from breaking out instead of playing 5 minutes a night, which was not enough for anyone to make an impact. His situation reminds me of Nystrom. A great checking line player who put up 16 goals with a change of scenary.
