Feaster is going to talk about intellectual honesty within a month -- he tried to trade Iginla but there are no interest

Brent Sutter got more out of this team than was there, sadly there were a lot of fans who actually thought the Flames were (are) a playoff team without Sutter. At least now the core does not have to even pretend to care about defense, that is way more entertaining. Hard to see this team beating Chicago, and if they lose that game it is a 1-4-1 start and they only have to go about 11 games over .500 over their last 42 games (26-15-1) to make the playoffs.

And the Dive-alanche were up to their usual tricks, dropping on the lightest contacts.
If kipper plays as good as an avg goalie the flames win tonight.

I would to. But I will take this over boring defensive hockey that doesn't produce wins. AKA the Flames for the last three seasons.

Well this thread has turned into a collection of really odd arguments.

My thoughts.

First line was way, way too pre-occupied with trying to get Iginla a goal tonight. That #$^@ has to stop. Who cares if he doesn't have a goal? He's been playing well. I thought Jarome was fine tonight. His linemates were just awful.

Cammalleri. What the hell, man.

Stempniak was completely invisible tonight. Backlund was until the 3rd.

Too much open ice in our own zone for Avs forwards.

Nothing more needs be said about how bad Kipper was. Giguere was far, far better.

No urgency on the power play. Probably looked at Colorado's stat line and thought it would be easy to bag a few PP goals.

Just about every time there could be a backbreaking goal scored against us, there was. Unbelievable. Not a lot of confidence coupled with some bad luck going on right now.

I dunno, I really thought that we might be a good (at least, better) team this year. There were positive signs up to this point. Unfortunately, "there are positive signs" can also mean "things have mostly been bad". Thus far it appears that "mostly bad" is the key part to focus in on, not the "positive signs".

Iginla has to go. Not because he's been bad. He's been fine. He's just been the only constant save Kipper since 2004 and, ironically, outside of tonight's game, the team's lack of success obviously doesn't fall at Kipper's feet. Everything else has changed. I love the guy, but at what point do you realize that literally everything else has been tried, with little to no variation in results? Some years, we're good defensively. Some years, we're good offensively. Some years, we have a good PP. The only constant is the total inability to win a big game. The number of big games we've won since Game 5 in Tampa is a very, very short list, and in the last 4-5 years, I'm not sure there's a single one on it.

If that's not leadership, what is it?

I'll take 6-5 type hockey if it gets us in the playoffs.

The silver lining is made of tin foil and is really just another excuse on an never ending stream of them.

If this was one game then I would get the argument. But it isn't just one game.
It's only good on paper if you ignore what the majority of these players have done the last few seasons. If you don't, it's mediocre to bad on paper.

Short season, new coach and system that inspires his players to play a go go offensive brand of hockey and Iggy is still a slow starter to the season.
Something has got to give.

Hard to imagine this team making the playoffs, or really even coming close. Cant play a 60 minute game and dont seem to have the desire to learn how to.

I'm so tired of reading this crap. No playoffs in three seasons and the last time they won a playoff round was two lock-outs ago. The only paper this team looks good on is toilet paper.

First of all Keenan had arguably the most talented Flames roster since the early 90's and parlayed it into a sloppy, high scoring team that was never a threat to advance in the playoffs. It's why he got fired. Now with Cammalleri, Kipper, and Iginla much older on a team with considerable less talent do we really want to revert to that type of hockey?

Teams would move heaven and earth to pick up Iginla.

We should hire Keenan then, maybe he can get Iginla and Kipper back in their prime to bring this team to the playoffs. Keenan made the playoffs with a far superior team. But that is all ancient history now, the dressing room got what they wanted, a players coach playing "entertaining" hockey, now they can win some games perhaps.

Iginla has to go. If you can get good value in return i'd make the trade.

It was truly horrible and Hartley now probably realizes like the last three coaches that this Flames head coaching job is much more of an undertaking than it looks from the outside. This team has major, major issues that aren't going to be fixed until the roster gets a overhaul that includes number 12 leaving and a new player assuming the role of captain.
It's not sugar coating when you use facts. Flames had more shots, chances and control of the play. They had more hits, more takeaways. They easily could have won this. How do you debate facts?

This game simply came down to goaltending. If Kipper was good or hell, even mediocre, the Flames come out with 2 points.

It was there in the third period for the taking, it's not as bad a loss as you're making it out to be.
