I'm honestly blown away that 2x res (UHD) monitors are still so goddamn expensive. There's a Taiwanese company making 2560x1600 monitors for $650, but goddamn the general market is unreal.

I would honestly love if a mod merged this conversation into the PC gaming thread.

That's really stupid. The thread is about a specific thing . if you want to move the conversation there do it, but man stop being off topic here.

?

I'm speaking of the PC talk from the last page or two, so all thats left in the PS4 thread is PS4 related conversation.

It's not uncommon on other forums for mods to move conversations to keep things tidy.

Again, it's highly subjective, perhaps 30fps at medium settings running 1920x1080 is a "great" experience for some. It's certainly not for me, so my interpretation will be different than yours or HP's.
I can run Battlefield 3 at 1920x1080 at around 50fps most times on an old 6870. You don't need the best of the best to have a great gaming system, you need the best of the best to have a great enthusiast system. Needing an SSD to have a great gaming system is borderline redonkulous.

You mean like the entire list of system specs? Or do you mean the box that encloses those pieces?

We've known the system specs long before this announcement, though, so that's nothing new.

And what would a stylized black box accomplish? Nothing. When has a new console announcement ever been accompanied by full games ready to go? Never. Sony provided a whole hell of a lot of info about their online offerings for the PS4 during the event, and the spec bump to 8GB of GDDR5 RAM is great news.

Yes, the box that encloses the pieces. We platform users are a simple folk.

But honestly, when I was a kid and new systems came out, the design of the console and the controller was always the second biggest thing to look forward too. The first being screenshots and teasers videos of the first batch of games for the new console.

I remember being so excited about Playstation 2 when it was coming out, and I was over the moon looking at screenshots of NHL 2001. It was the first time the crowd had actual people in the stands instead of the pixelatedf lat squares that made up the crowds in every previous NHL game.

NHL 2001

Even though they look terrible by todays standards, I remember being ecstatic when I first saw the crowd shots, because the arena realism was one of the biggest things for me.

It's funny because even when I was younger, I never really took stock in any games shown at console reveals, N64, PS2, GameCube all has stuff that was fluff and very little gameplay. Most of the games shown changed significantly by launch, and many didn't appear at all in the end.

By this generation, all I want to know is...what makes this different from before? What makes this worth buying over the competitor? With so much being cross platform now, it's the systems that make or break a sale for many.

It'd be something to talk about? People like shiny things, I know I do. I'm not sure it'd be meant to accomplish anything more or less than any other bit of information revealed to the general public.

I gotta say, though, the most exciting thing about the PS4 to me is that PS3s should go down in price! I'm always about a generation behind when it comes to consoles. I gotta play me some Ni No Kuni.

I am actually quite interested in the design of the console itself. There's a certain elegance that can be achieved with tech gadgets these days. The aesthetic design of the console is important.

Sony must have something together by now right? Especially if they wanna launch by the holidays. I'm disappointed they didn't share it.

I hope the new PS4 has a flat top and it's not curved, the ps3's propensity to make controllers slide off of it when it's turned off was annoying

so with the entire PS back catalog being available on the PS4 in online download form (eventually), will they have a way to let you download games you've already purchased without buying them again? if so, that would get me to be a day one buyer. being able to get rid of my entire physical game collection would be a very big selling feature
