Didn't see any fat ninjas, lots of fat old dudes with cameras taking pictures of all the female flesh on display though.

I qualify as a fat old dude, and I had a camera, but I only took pictures of stuff with my kid in it, or stuff my kid wanted pictures of (which doesn't yet include stockings, sideboobs, or short skirts). I can't imagine even asking some girl probably less than half my age to please pose for a picture even if she has the most amazing boobs costume of my favorite character, I'd lock myself away in shame.

This guy, doing Joker from "Death of the Family", was my favourite. And he was walking around with his little girl.

Still WTF? Same pants from last night? Homeless? Sat outside on mud while eating lunch?

They cut the line-up for Nathan Fillion's autograph (which was what I wanted most) 5 people in front of me.

I did however get Eliza Dushku's autograph (gonna give it to a friend, he's a much bigger fan then I)... she has the most perfect skin of anyone I've ever seen (or the best make-up artist), just amazingly beautiful up close. Got some onesies for my babygirl.

Lot of Tardis girls running around... when did that become a thing?

Doctor Who is becoming pretty big, I suppose it helps that a Matt Smith costume is easy to make and doubles for hipster uniform.

Props to the Tom Baker guy with the white bag of jelly babies giving out candy to strangers...That could have been more than a little shady.

I remember talking about Doctor Who 10 years ago and nobody knew what I was on about.

Best costume there was the girl in the pocky box. The whole thing was hand painted IIRC.

Some interesting tidbits i thought id share from a friend who was doing VIP security all weekend:

- Many guests said they'd be back. Stan Lee even said just tell him the dates and he'll be here. Most guests also noticed and appreciated how accommodating the expo was (kudos to the volunteers) and how nice the people in general were. Aaron Douglas also mentioned this last year during his panel.
- Carey Elwes really, really liked Calgary. Said it was a nice looking city and being so close to the mountains and having the mountain view made it even better. Seemed genuinely impressed.
- Peter Dinklage was legitimately having a great time here and this was also the first expo type thing he's ever done (mentioned during his panel as well).
- Norman Reedus stayed until 630pm on Sunday to make sure everyone in his line got an autograph. Well after closing time.
- Nathan Fillion went around and personally thanked a whole bunch of volunteers by name and shook their hands behind the scenes.
- A few guests were noticeably hungover on Saturday . One must assume this was probably also the case for Sunday....

That's pretty much it! Glad to hear we're improving on our great reputation amongst the celebs. Goes a long way to getting people to come back and/or here for the first time.

hahaha. I've done shows with her for years. I guess she must have made a crap load of money selling furry hats to buy her new set 2 years ago.

Anybody know what kind of accomodations they give to the guests? Are they staying at the downtown hotels like Palliser, Le Germain, Sheraton, Hotel Arts, etc.?

Not that I'm interested in stalking, I'm just curious as to what kind of treatment they get and what kind of accomodations they get here to contribute to their experience of Calgary.

I heard the same thing about Stan Lee last year, that he said that they should expect to see him next year. I even heard they turned away a lot of last year's guests including James Marsters who wanted to return because they didn't want to have the same guests every year. You don't say no to Stan Lee though.

They stay at the Palliser for sure. When you are paying some like 6 figures for a weekend i don't think you put them up in Motel Village. haha

Doesn't have to be the Palliser. Lot's of big names stay at the Hyatt, Delta and Sheraton...etc.

I'd bet good money that they stayed at the Sheraton.

If they were here on vacation or personal time then yeah, I could see them staying at one of the really pricey ones but if they're being put up by someone else then it's almost certian that they got a decent room at one of the higher end, but still not ridiculous chains.

Wil Wheaton tweeted this picture on Saturday night while watching the Kings game:

I've never stayed in a hotel in Calgary, so I can't identify it.

Well color me shocked. The expo must be making more money then I thought.

Every time I've seen someone tweet something about their hotel in Calgary it's usually one of the three I mentioned.

If you are going to pay someone $100k or more to come for a weekend, i don't think a room at the palliser is going overboard. Especially when it's off season right now.

I have heard many times that a huge part of why Calgary is able to get such big names is the treatment they provide the guests. It's not that they're making a ton of money, so they splurge for the guests, but rather the opposite. They splurge, so the guests come, and that's how they've been able to grow their revenues.

This isn't like the NHL guys who don't have a choice whether they travel or not.

Oh wow a room at the Palliser is only like 20 bucks a night more then the other ones I mentioned... I was way off.

Last time I looked at the Palliser it was around $450 a night. Whoops.
