I wanted going to post explanations about a fairy-tale too, but I couldn't be arsed, so just imagine I wrote an in-depth literary exploration of "Hansel and Gretel" here.

HPLovecraft, we can split hairs all we want about translations, but the fact is that--among other things within muslim doctrine--martydom is enshrined in the quran as the best way to get to paradise. In other words, dying to spread or "defend" the faith will give eernal reward in the hereafter.
Oh, and one very simple question: What is the penalty for apostacy?

Group plans to screen 'Innocence of the Muslims' across Canada
VANCOUVER – A "grassroots Canadian organization" is hoping to arrange a screening of the controversial film about the Prophet Mohammed in cities across the country.
"We have the freedom to show a movie like that and we shouldn't succumb to threats of violence,” said Banjeree.
David Eby, executive director of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, said that just because the movie "is in poor taste" doesn't mean any screening should be blocked. "We are a free speech organization," Eby said. "We support the idea that people can screen the movie of their choice, however distasteful.”

Is “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man” vague?
The point is that again NYers are being put at risk over a squabble between countries 5000 miles away. Leave the hipsters out of it!

I think there is so much more to the article than just the first 4 paragraphs which mention Libya.

By burn_this_city calling the whole article dumb just because the first four paragraphs had incorrect facts about Libya, is stupid.
Cowperson thinks the article is great and I agree with him.

So the ad to be placed in the NY subways says:
“In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad”
To me, when I read the ad, it says that those who support, condone, and participate in Jihad, are savages.... and it goes on to request that civilized man fight and defeat the Jihadists.
How can you disagree with that?

Because it's intentionally inflammatory to the point of me feeling even more at risk of my morning commute turning into a bloodbath. Seems like a good enough reason to me.

Yes, perhaps there are some people who will take it as an insult... but there are all sorts or ads out there that certain people find insulting. Why should we have to censor ourselves because certain segments of the population are easily offended and prone to violence?
I would of thought that you of all people would support free speech and be against censorship.

Because of two things:
A) It's not as cut and dry as Israel = good, Palestine = bad.
B) Americans shouldn't have to put up with propaganda from a foreign nation to benefit their foreign policy. Americans should worry about things that are important to them like the economy, their two wars and the World Series.

Like it or not, the USA has always supported Israel, and they are permantly linked together in the terrorists mind.
New Yorkers have always been at risk from terrorist actions by Jihadists. 9-11 was not the first terrorist act by Jihadists and it probably won't be the last.
The ad is saying just don't accept what the savages (Jihadists) do, fight against them and defeat them.

Rerun, you're not the one who has to ride the subway and put his life in danger for someone else's cause. You'd be singing a different tune if we were talking about a street in Okotoks. Would you be willing to put your family and neighbors at risk for this?
What I always find ironic about NY being placed in the middle of all this is, that it's probably the closest humanity will ever have to a city where all sorts of international cultures and people get along relatively (but not perfectly) peacefully. Yet people from outside of the place always want to use it as a pawn for their own racial fights.

It isn't hate speech. It's an anti-Jihadist ad.

I see it as something that should be found to be unprotected hate speech, I'm actually surprised that the courts don't agree.
