I think the Bell version is the Samsung Galaxy S III I9300.

Also just found this advice:

Quote:
In the Notification bar pull down there is a toggle widget for Notifications with an "i" symbol. This might be toggled to disable notifications on your phone.

he says he has googled it and tried some solutions with no luck. I myself have not.

One more question. What version of the SIII is the Bell version when you are referencing XDA?

Damn. In Accessibility there is an option to disable all sound...I don't have that on my Nexus or captivate.

Saw this and thought you S3 folks might be interested. There are a couple posts about how to prevent this.

Just got my new Galxy S3 today, 32 GB Pebble Blue, she is a beauty!

Coming form a Google Nexus One, so familiar with Android, but will still be checking out some suggestions in this thread.

Anyone else got this thing running Jelly Bean yet? Haven't looked into it much yet, but I did have an older Cyanogen Mod running on my old phone, might pick up that again too, as I already don't like the Bell/Samsung bloatware. Plus that vulnerability that was already posted has me a bit concerned.

Another question about the S3. I was playing around with a demo unit in Best buy yesterday. I noticed when I turned on automatic brightness setting the screen was really, really dim. Too dim to use properly. Is this usually the case on the S3, or was it just a faulty unit?

If you have to turn up the brightness how does that impact the battery life?

Thanks.

It was probably on power saving mode. my kid was playing around with my s3 on the weekend and turned on power saving. i was wondering why my phone after 2 days still had 28% battery life on it.....

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been using swiftkey for a few days and love it! The auto correct I find to be much better.

Dont know where else to put this, so I'll put it here.

Anyone thinking of upgrading their phones, right now is a very good time to do it at either Bestbuy or Futureshop.

I don't think they are advertising it, but with hardware upgrades they are giving a 250 dollar credit to your account (25 dollars a month off your bill for 10 months)

I just upgraded to the S3, and it cost me one cent. Received the 50 dollar hardware upgrade credit, 35 dollar activation fee was waived, and received the 250 dollar account credit.

I think the offer is for 2 days only.

I believe it applies to most hardware (Iphone included)

There is talk as well on Redflagdeals forums about it

I recently bought a S3 to replace a work Blackberry 9900 that I no longer need.

I cant believe how awesome it is. Anyone delaying the switch - don't.

Would a longtime iPhone user be lost with an S3? I'm seriously considering making the switch or at least getting one to try out.

I'm in the same boat. My contract for my iPhone 4 is done next year and I really don't see the point in getting an iPhone 5 (seems to be the exact same phone as the 4).

I really do love the iPhone, but Apples inability to innovate over the past couple of years is starting to annoy me. Also, the new maps app is atrocious and pisses me off with how bad it is.

How is the map app for the S3? Does is actually know that Mount Royal University isn't located downtown in a parking lot? Does it actually connect to the internet?

well the maps app is made by Google, has had turn by turn navigation for years now (which is Apple's big selling point with their "new" maps), and if it can get my half drunk/half hungover ass un-lost in the middle of Thailand, i'm pretty sure it can find Mount Royal

My brother and his daughter were pretty much sold on getting Iphone 5s because they have always just upgraded to the new one when it came out.

After them seeing my S3 this weekend, both of them are now planning on getting it.
