Then there's the Dion Phaneuf trait. Throw a big hit, and leave your defensive partner alone, dealing with an odd man rush!
I'm excited about this. I wonder if you get to choose a trait at the start of your BAP, or if it just appears after you play for a while.

Seems like they only talk about offensive defencemen too. Where's the "Stay at home" trait if I want a Regehr-esc player?

Wonder if they will have these traits randomly assigned somehow to draft classes in Dynasty mode.

By reading these blogs, and maybe it's just me, but it seems like they took what NBA 2K11 did and are trying to integrate it into NHL. Maybe the 2K guys shared their notes with EA once they decided not to put out a game.

Yes and no. I'd shell out for '12 if they updated the scoreboard at the Dome.

According to history (so completely unconfirmed) I would guess about 3 weeks before launch date. So probably week of August 22-26.

New Be a Pro trailer.

Also, best comment I saw:
That was a pretty bad goal Luongo gave up there. NHL12 looks even more realistic than ever!

Starting in the CHL is a neat idea, but with the ratings at that level I would imagine players getting pretty frustrated awfully quick. Adding, what, 12 career levels seems a little pointless...unless there is more to it than getting a card. New coach tasks might add to the game, as long as they aren't as poorly incorporated as the current ones.
I haven't played this mode in a long time, but I am pretty sure you can sim to your next shift already. I may be wrong on that. Action tracker is a good start, but sounds pretty generic and useless at current development.
Of course that is all based on a one minute video, but color me unimpressed at the new game. If the AI is indeed significantly improved, that would be the saving grace for me. The features are falling flat outside of that.

My concern is the tasks set out by the coach. There's a high chance it'll be screwed up badly (and either hold too much/too little bearing on your actions). I mean right now you can screw around with the teamwork score by just diving in front of shots (+1 full letter grade each time you do...though the AI seems programmed to give up goals if a skater unsuccessfully blocks a shot). I'm sure it'll be easy to solve how much coach tasks matter.

I can barely get through a whole NHL season before I get bored and move on to another game. There's no way I'd play 4 seasons of AHL, at least 1 of AHL and then a bunch of seasons in the NHL.

the reason i got bored was beacuse there was no goals and you could stay on the ice the entire time and not shift once during a game. So i am happy they now have actualy goals by the coach and you dont play the entire game

Nope, you can't do that. Adding it could be a big help, but it depends on how it works in with the rest of the game. Simming allows you to be a 4th liner and not spend 20 minutes doing nothing, but unless the goals are in line with what should be expected from a 4th liner players will just put themselves out there all the time (another issue, coaches should send you out on shifts as opposed to you having the ability to call for a change). I'd love the ability to start out as a limited minute player and build my role with a team to the 20 minute a night level, it would add a relaism that's lacking. NBA 2K11 did a great job of this, I started my season as a 5-7 minute guy and only got more minutes due to trades and injuries. Put up big numbers and climbed the depth chart (and also found myself bumped down when my play wasn't great). Something like that coupled with a goal based system that makes sense could really make BaP a great mode.

I really hope they can take 5 minutes and add some sort of code into the game, especially HUT:
*When player A refuses to play player B after 5 attempts, those 2 players won't meet in a quick match for 10 minutes.*
So annoying having some idiot back out at the edit lines menu and you keep getting him time after time after time.
