Things that make me feel old - Peter Jackson's daughter in the Fellowship of the Ring and then Peter Jackson's daughter at the Hobbit premiere last night:

Stephen Colbert has never been afraid to show off his passion for J.R.R. Tolkien on The Colbert Report (see: this James Franco interview and this dissection of John McCain’s Lord of the Rings debt ceiling analogy) but next week he will take that love to new nerdy levels. Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report will present four nights of Hobbit-themed programming (Dec. 3 to Dec. 6), pegged to the Dec. 14 release of The Hobbit: An UnexpectedJourney, EW has learned. Guests will include stars Ian McKellan (Dec. 3), Martin Freeman (Dec. 4) and Andy Serkis (Dec. 6), along with director Peter Jackson (Dec. 5).

Ouch, looks like The Hobbit may be pretty mediocre, much worse than the LotR trilogy. 71% right now, and it already has 4 negative reviews; and even the positive reviews aren't exactly glowing.
It must suck to be the Tinordi's of the world has have to continually be disappointed from all the major releases this year (Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, and now this).
If people are holding this up to LOTR then I think they will be disappointed.. The Hobbit is a much different book with a much lighter theme to it.
However, I have no idea how the movie is being portrayed, and maybe that is the problem, they tried to clone LOTR in The Hobbit time frame..
Either way I started the book again last night in prep for the movie, I think this is my fourth or fifth read through now. I always forget just how entertaining of a read it really is. I plan to go the Sunday afternoon of opening weekend, getting excited.

74% right now on RT. Looks like the major complaint is that the first hour is really slow going. Not surprising considering Jackson's trying to stretch this over three films at 160 minutes each. I expect the other two films to be better, with the intro done with.

I am still very bitter that they are making this 3 movies. The hobbit was one of my favorite books growing up, and it is much shorter than any single book of LOTR.
I was looking forward to the most action packed fun filled adventure movie in a long time. Until I heard it was split into 3. I am very skeptical.

Where did you confirm which Cineplex AVX screens are HFR3D?
Is the Cross Iron AVX also HFR3D? The AVX listing for Sunridge, has the designation "3D High Frame Rate UltraAVX", but no such designations are listed for Cross Iron or Chinook.
Sadly, I made the calculated gamble that the CI AVX will be HFR too. Mostly cause there werent any good seats left at Sunridge or Chinook, and Cross Iron is so much closer. I am praying its in HFR3D .... if not I am sure I'll see it again over the holidays.
