It's steamed tobacco in a sort of tea bag you can put in your mouth. It's not roasted like dip or burnt like cigarettes so there are no harmful carcinogens caused by pyrolization. Just moisture and tobacco leaves.

It might help you guys trying to quit smoking. I've always wanted to try it.

I don't think there's anywhere in Canada you can by this stuff. My swedish buddy introduced it to me overseas and now I order mine online. Definitely reduces any cravings you may have for cigarettes and most studies suggest that there's not a whole lot of harmful effects from the stuff (has something to do with it being regulated as a food product in sweden)

My method for quitting was simply cold turkey. I read this thread three times (monday night, tuesday night, and wednesday night) and I wish I read that book, but since it apparently encourages you to smoke while reading it, I did not bother going and getting it.
Monday night wasn't so bad. Tuesday night was brutal. I felt like an old man that was forced to retire. I just didn't know what to do with myself. Like my hands wanted to be busy, but my brain was saying no. It was seriously difficult. Wednesday was almost as bad, but not quite.
The worst was Friday. Hanging out on a beautiful weekend with friends and beers and watching people smoke was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. And then there was Saturday. Pretty much just as hard. Today wasn't as bad. I think I'm used to it now. I think it'll be a good couple of years before I'm really free of all the triggers, but I think I might be past the really hard part. Now it's more of an ironman streak, and I kind of love those, so I'm pretty sure I'll never smoke again, except for maybe a cigar or something, on an occasion. My cigarette smoking career ended at 18 years. F*** it.

Good job. If you want to get the smell of the smoke out of your car/truck, PM me. I have a product here that works wonders, and I can give you a freebee.

I read online that there were some trial sales in Canada in certain areas but I've never seen any. Where do you order yours online?

e-cigs? The type they sell in stores here has no nicotine, but just smoking them can placate at least the habitual part of your cravings. You can buy refillable e-cigs with cartridges that contain nicotine, though.

Northerner.com
The duty on them can be very inconsistent though, ranging anywhere from nothing to i'm not even gonna bother picking these up. My favourite is actually Göteborg Rape No. 2 which is lingonberry flavoured. It's great stuff.

I did it completely cold turkey, and I'm cruising. I think the cessation aids only prolong the withdrawal. IMHO, the best recipe is 100% willpower. And downloading a goofy app to your iphone that keeps track of how many days, how much you've saved, and how many cigarettes you have not smoked...
16 days and 21 hours
saved $168
not smoked 337 cigarettes
cheated 0 times

That's the biggest thing. You need to want it. You can't do it for someone else. You need to be totally on board in your mind. No other aid is going to make a difference if you don't really want it.
My aunt has tried for years to quit. She's just undergone her 2nd lung surgery and is doing chemo for stage 4 lung Cancer. She has finally quit. But it's too late. Good luck out there, everyone. And stick to it.

Thought I'd join late to the game
I stopped on Sunday night, so as of tommorrow morning I will be on day 4.
I use a nicotine inhaler when things get really bad. But the cravings are going away.
The only danger is I have a box of premium cubans in my den and I outright refuse to throw them out.

I'm a little late to the bump party, but wanted to throw some support/congrats to mrbanffgirl, 4x4 and the Captain.
I'm currently at 15 months-1 week-2 days and can tell you that it was worth every bit of effort. GO FOR IT!!

Thanks. I'm at a month and 8 days and going strong.
Probably the best external motivator for me has been this app on my phone that keeps track of my progress. Watching the "would have smoked" count go higher and higher is really eye opening. At this minute, it's at 783. Forget the money I've saved, it's the cigarettes not smoked that makes me sick.

What's the app called? I'd love to see the results for me.
I'm five days away from being smoke-less for 9 months.

Its called quit and tell.
And it is amazing how many cigarettes actually get smoked. I averaged about 20 a day, give or take 5.

I hit a major milestone this week.
I've never been able to travel alone without smoking. It's what got me smoking the last two times I had quit.
I just got back from a week in New Orleans, and not only did I not smoke, I wasn't even remotely interested.
This is probably the only significant hurdle that I had yet to clear. This is also the longest I've gone at about 16 months.
