I know I'm OutToLunch, but does anyone else think Tiggy and Jiggy are the obvious nicknames for Tij and Joe?

I would love to see that. My only concern is fan expectations based on who their dad is. Could be a big pressure cooker for either of them to be in Calgary.

I could be wrong but I don't see it that way. I think the opposite could be true, they could thrive,.Pressure didn't seem to affect Iggy, it motivated him. He's going to be there for them anytime they need to talk to him and he is a pretty positive guy. They are probably going to get expectations no matter what Canadian city they play in.
Playing in the US might be a different story though, Canadian fans are very passionate but if you ever watch football in the US the whole family goes wild, they are crazy football fans but hockey is a bit different. I think it would be really exciting to have both of his kids playing for the Flames, I think they would be very motivated to bring dad the Stanley Cup.

In all likelihood, both will be drafted by other NHL teams. Everyone likes bloodlines.

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS:
1. Team immediately preceding Calgary's pick selects Tij Iginla. Forum explodes! Drama!
2. Tij Iginla still on the board, Flames select obscure European with unpronounceable name. Forum explodes! Drama!
3. Flames select Tij Iginla. Forum explodes! Drama!
4. Flames bypass Tij Iginla and select an ex-Oiler's progeny. Forum explodes! Drams!

Nope. Both will be Calgary or bust and repay the balance for the Fox trade

Option 3 is the kind of drama I would love to sign up for.

5. Tij Iginla drafted by Rangers, refuses to sign. Demands trade to Calgary and only Calgary!

Option 1 would be tough to watch. You can just imagine how excited the kid would likely be at that point… one team away from his own dad possibly getting to step up to the podium and call his name to join the team his father became a living legend on… and, instead, he ends up going to Phoenix to play in a college arena.

As long as neither Iginla boy ends up playing for the Oilers, I'm fine with them going anywhere...

Just because he is Iginla’s kid should not mean that Calgary automatically takes him at the draft if available. Best person every time please. This is almost as bad as keeping players just so you can say he played on the team for his full career. We kept Iggy for far to long for sentimental reason, the team needs to be far more ruthless and business like if it ever wants to win he cup again.

I have no issues with the Flames picking one of Iginla's boys if the organization truly feels he's the best prospect available when they pick. I can't imagine the Conroy and the rest of management would overdraft him just because he's Iggy's kid as there's just too much on the line with first round picks. If it happens great. If it doesn't it's okay as long as neither of them go to the Oilers as I would hate to have to cheer against them.

Hate to say it, but the Oiler's will be picking in the bottom 3rd of the 1st round, and Iginla is unlikely to be on the board at that point.

I was living in Winnipeg when the Nieuwendyk trade went down. first heard about it through Winnipeg sports 'legend ' Scott Taylor on the radio. he said the deal was Nieuwendyk for Cory Millen and 'totally botched Iggys name' and called him an obscure Czech prospect and that the Flames got fleeced
Iginla blew up at the World Junior's shortly thereafter to ease my concern
