Can we maybe just have open spoilers in here up to latest released episode and put it in the title? I think everyone coming in is discussing the show now, getting a little annoying having everything in tags.
I’ll edit the title if everyone is cool with that.
Edit: It looks like I can't edit the title of the thread? I've never actually tried to before. It only let me edit the title of the overall post. Does a mod need to do that?

I purposely don't come into threads about TV shows unless I'm caught up.
I think spoilers are assumed, as the entire point of the thread is to talk about the show.
What are we talking about if not the latest episode?

I used to watch TNG and saw some of the movies. I remember the scene where Data saved Picard.
Can someone please give a brief summary of what is happening on the Borg ship and why? Thx!

I mean... that’s really the central mystery of the series and it’s not entirely clear what exactly is happening there or why. I’d suggest you just watch and find out with the rest of us!

I think what they are doing in the Borg ship is scavenging / de-assimilating.

Couple of things thoughts on the re-watch of the episode. Interesting that Soji's badge flashing green when she got grabbed by Ramdha... Former Borg still carry nanoprobes that could be hazardous perhaps?
The other thing with Soji's and Dahj's "mother". I don't think she's real. Maybe an AI or hologram? Whatever she is has some keywords that can put Soji to sleep on command. And why put Soji to sleep unless you had to access her for whatever reason? Possible that Maddox might be really close by, on the Artifact perhaps and hiding as one of the Institute researchers.

Hopefully the show will get better once they're out in space. Nostalgia is really the only reason I'm still watching.

There hasn't even really been any nostalgia. None of the characters outside of Picard are nostalgic, are they?
Anyway having now caught up, all I know is that the blonde girl from the newsroom is clearly a traitor. So I'm hoping they at least do a double bluff and have someone else be a traitor instead, because if the expected happens, that would be very lame.

I think I'm going to wait a month or two and then binge the rest of the series. I really don't like the serial format they are doing here. The episodes do not feel like episodes, more like it's just a long story randomly broken-up at various places that are packaged as episodes. Is one fun self-contained episode too much to ask for? That's what TNG was all about. At most they had two-parters.

Are episodic TV shows even a thing anymore?
I personally would much rather watch something with an overarching plot vs. a weekly episode that doesn't really change anything.

Same here.
I view series like Picard as more like a long in depth movie rather than a tv show. It is very much fleshing out the background on all of the characters and setting things up to explore where the trek universe went after DS9 and the rest. It's nearly impossible to talk about all the new stuff without actually going through the process of showing how things have changed. It is understandable that the first three episodes have been slower, they've had 20 years worth of time go by with one of the empires collapsing because their star blew up, and the ripple effects of all of that on everyone. Can't just get out into space and on a mission without having a clue on why you're there.
It isn't like before where an episode would be more of a commentary on an idea or topic. Like that episode about drug addicts or the gay community or on gender roles. It's not the same era.

I might have to wait and binge this show too. As of right now it has gotten worse the further it's run and it's losing me real fast.
Too bad, I thought the pilot was incredible.

I prefer a mix of both, like the X Files. They tried a little bit with Discovery, but it felt like something they were forced to do. Hopefully they have some adventures that can be considered one off as they make their way, now that they are in space.

Discovery certainly has a couple episodic episodes. The one with Harry Mudd for sure.
DS9 certainly wasnt very episodic by the end of the run. Even in TNG, in later seasons the episodes still were episodic, but there was also long running plots as well.
