Jimmy and Dougie had lots of time to chat on the plane back from Italy.

Robertson to Anaheim, Thomas to Dallas, and ??? to St Louis would be interesting.
Who has more value - Robertson or Thomas?

Always the RHS Centre over the winger

It is interesting though that Thomas was never really mentioned as an option for team Canada considering all the high praise he is getting now. Not saying he isn’t a really good player but it’s strange that his name never seemed part of the conversation this year or last year (4 nations) despite his own GM being so prominent in the team Canada management.

I mean it's not like Canada was thing at Centre. But I think a lot of the praise he's getting right now is because it's rare to have RHS centre at his age, locked up, on the market.

Going to buffalo five months ago versus going to Buffalo today are two very different propositions.

I think it's close, because Robertson has been more prolific and more of a play driver too.
I might actually take Robertson in terms of on ice impact.
Thomas will have the better value contract, and plays the premier position.
It's close though IMO.

Most of the value has to be coming from Anaheim IMO.
No way is it Robertson + 1st to get Thomas IMO.

Well while he's a legit 1C, he's not up there with even Wyatt Johnston, let alone the guys who went, outside of Bennett, who had his PO and 4 Nations rep propping him up.

Yeah, I can see organizational need playing a big factor too pushing one organization one way or the other.
But I don't you can overstate the cost controlled plus. Who knows what that next Robertson contract is going to look like.

I had it the opposite. That Thomas is the more valuable piece as a center.

Remarkably quiet and low amount of information coming out about Flames trade pieces since the Olympic break. Maybe they are clamping down on leaks

Yeah but Anaheim has to give up a lot more than just Minty to get Robertson.
The weight needs to come from Anaheim because they weren't giving up a star.
Dallas probably would throw in a third piece that's less valuable than the 2 pieces Anaheim would have to give up.
