Tampa is tight up against the cap and doesn't have significant LTIR relief.

Probably because the deal isn't done and flames have no incentive to hold a player out. Things change constantly at this time of year.

To be fair, there are absolutely incentives, the Flames just don't seem to value them.
But yea, if there's a deal "done" then it's borderline malpractice to be playing the guy headed out.
Will be excited to see stuff actually cross the line here soon.

No deal is done at this point, close and closed are two different things.

We debate some weird things around here. I'm sure, if there was a hand shake deal on a trade, that say required 2 more games of cap accumulation to get through, and that's the only reason it's not official, the Flames would keep the player out.
What has occurred that makes us believe they aren't doing that? What's likely going on, is teams are interested, have stated that XX cap accumulation would be required to make it happen, and we'll get back to you after that fact. But that's nothing more than window shopping until it's not. Playing players after that convo, is much different than that. Playing players teams want puts pressure on them to make a move. We need to remember, the buyers want these players, it's not just us that want to get rid of them. Playing them puts pressure on them to up the anti and get a good offer on the table too. It for sure is a risk reward game, no one is saying it's not, but the premise that the Flames have nothing to gain by playing the players in question is false.

I just looked at the TSN trade board and one player in the top 10 has sat out a game recently
If you are sitting guys out its pretty hard to keep a poker face and say we don't need to trade so and so, you better up that offer

Agreed.
Sitting players out in February may have been overzealous.
3 days out from the deadline, I think players we should absolutely be seeing players sat out now.

True. But the big ones typically happen early.

It's kind of weird because it helps them now, but could make more difficult decisions come playoff time.
But I guess if you're Tampa Bay maybe it means you're just scratching a piece like Bjorkstrand or something like that.

Laine + Xhekaj in a way that weaponizes Conroy’s cap-space?
I love the idea of Laine as a reclamation. Acquire, extend 1-year on a relatively high cap so he gets a healthy year to earn a bigger deal.
Could Kadri to Montreal be a part of a bigger deal?
