I don't know if the stench has remained in the stadium, but Charlie is in deep deep trouble here in set 3.

Paul's become a pretty solid player. Maybe lacks the big weapons to be a perennial top 10 player but he's a dangerous guy when he's playing well. Alcaraz just looked off all tournament. It didn't seem like it was lack of effort and maybe more that he was trying too hard to put on a show for the fans as Toronto really embraced him this week. Seems in general that a lot of the top seeds get more geared up for Cincinnati.

I think it's just a personal preference, Federer preferred Cincy and it's faster court and Nadal preferred Canada. Federer won 7 titles in Cincy vs 2 in Canada and Nadal won 5 in Canada vs 1 in Cincy.

All I'm hearing is Cotton-Eye Joe which I didn't think was on the DJ's mixtape in Montreal.

Sometimes you get a Nadal vs Agassi 3 set epic battle of the generations final and sometimes you get Skinner rolling over Di Minaur in 2 easy sets. Unfortunately the last two men's finals in Canada have been not great

Looks like Darren Cahill has really brought out the best in Jannik Sinner. He already had some pretty good results in his young career, but was bold enough to make this latest coaching change and it resulted in his first Masters 1000 win. Has to be the 3rd favorite for the US Open after Novak and Charlie.

Felix is not playing Davis Cup, I'm worried he has a major injury that he's trying to play through and after the US Open he pulls out of the rest of the year.
Anyway, need Denis and Captain Canada Pospisil to come up huge for us, if we have any chance to repeat.
Also no Nadal for Spain either. It was a long shot but there was some talk of his playing doubles with Alcaraz in a couple matches.

I think it's more a case of just too much tennis and something had to give. It would make more sense to miss Cincinnati if the injury was still bothering him. At any rate, he'll likely crash out to Berrettini later this morning and get plenty of rest before the US Open.

Given his outstanding fall season it's crazy how the wheels have fallen off for Felix this year.

You can't be static in sports. It just shows the greatness of the Big 3 that they got better and better. FAA is stuck in mud and those his age or younger are improving, see Sinner as dash_pinched just mentioned.

Obviously, part of that is injury-related in 2023, but you would also like to see some tweaks to his game to improve some weaknesses. He's one of the few guys on tour that doesn't have a kick serve, he's got the flat and slice serves, but why no development of a kicker? He seems content to live with a backhand that can go hot-and-cold (actually, the same goes with his forehand).
In contrast to Sinner who is confident enough to make tweaks to his serve, he has gone back-and-forth between a platform and pinpoint stance as well as changing the starting arm position for his service motion to make it more repeatable.

Some excellent tennis players playing in the Winnipeg challenger event this week - Aside from our young Canadian Gabriel Diallo, Jack Draper is there along with David Goffin.
