Literally the only time I have intentionally raced someone off a stoplight in the past... I don't know how many years was a Trackhawk. And then we wound up at the next light and had a conversation about how awesome the trackhawk is.
A Raptor wouldn't do it. You need an actually cool car or I'm not interested. Maybe if it was a Roush Raptor or a Velociraptor then I'd be into it.

Raptors are still well above 5 seconds 0-100km/h. Not sure it's a car you have fun in because it goes fast.

My wife's car has the same engine as the Raptor and there's no way I'd be goaded into a race with a CLS
The Raptor's aren't that fast and stop light racing has lost all appeal since I was like 22. Nevermind the fact that it's pointless since any given Tesla would wipe the floor with 99.9% of other cars on the road.

Maybe he just felt racing at street lights as a middle aged man was lame.

I think the only other ford vehicle the raptor motor is in is the Lincoln navigator and that thing is a land yacht so it wouldn't be a red light racer. The 3.5 ecoboost in trucks and the explorer has 50 less hp than raptor version.

Unbelievably lame of you guys. Like, be fun. You honestly don't see the appeal of launching fast? Racing isn't fun to you? Like, what?
Are rollercoasters only for kids, too?
Isn't it exciting seeing two hockey players race for a puck?
Just shaking my head over here. I guess he bought one of the fastest trucks ever made, but doesn't like going fast. I can't relate to that, but neat that you guys can.

These are both outrageously lame points, too. Like I care if I lose, lol. It's not about winning at all. It's about having fun with a stranger on an otherwise boring 7:45 a.m. commute to work.
Never once had a race to the speed limit where both me and the other guy didn't exchange thumbs ups, smiles, waves, a conversation, or all four.
IDK, maybe try it sometime. It's fun.

‘Street Racing’ where goofballs weave in and out of traffic at speeds 3X everyone else with no regard for anyone is ####ing lame.
‘Street Racing’ where your throttle it for a perfectly reasonable length of time putting no one at risk except your ego, and maybe your drivetrain? ####ing awesome, don’t care.

Yeah. I mean, if I'm side by side with you in a golf cart, it's a race. If I'm in my daughter's VW Sportwagen and beside you in your Corvette, it's a race.
I 100% think it's human nature to enjoy racing and you're actively suppressing the playful side of your nature to abstain. Just to...idk, appear as though you're above fun? I honestly don't get it.

Sometimes I'll goad a way nicer car into doing it, just so I can see how fast it goes.

Ah yes, I remember now. Even in stock tuning, you are ~.5 second faster in a 0-60 MPH sprint. With a stage 1 putting you around 500 horse, you'd have embarrassed him. I had a stage 2 tune on my E550 that put me at 550 horse, in line with the E63 but more under-the-curve power.
I have had a few people try and goad me into racing them but I don't bite, usually they pick terrible spots. Or there are some that just act like aggressive dickbags, like some grey-haired dipsh-t in -- funnily enough -- a black CLS550 that almost swerved into me whilst cutting me off from merging on an on-ramp yesterday morning... I'm assuming it wasn't Sliver but I'll laugh my ass off about it if it was.

IIRC, Sliver's car is buick-beige... Which might explain why the Raptor guy didn't care to race
(I kid, I kid)

Hahaha, you recall correctly. Haven't heard Buick beige before, but that nails it. It's full-on old man colour, but I chalk that up to being the reason nobody would buy it for what it was worth and I picked it up for a song. In a round about way I love the colour.

I put a deposit on Pallisade a few weeks ago. My positions is I care more about the interior than the exterior look, and the interior comfort difference was significant. Plus the pricing seemed more competitive on the Palisades (discounts vs premium to MSRP).
I did spend an unreasonable amount of time shopping this, but I usually buy new and drive for a long time. SUV this replaces is a 2008. Drove the Atlas, Highlander, both Koreans, Pilot, CX-9, Pathfinder, and MDX.
The Telluride/Pallisade had easily the best third row, wasn't even close. The sleeper of the bunch was the CX-9, about $10k cheaper than the others, and while it was a bit smaller it wasn't bad.

My daughter went with the Palisade for the same reason - the interior punches way above its price point. And the interior is where you spend all your time. It really is a nice vehicle.

Congrats, Bizaro. I'm sure you'll love it and your logic is totally sound. Your interior will absolutely embarass mine. Great choice.
