Oh well NE fans- having the bye hasnt won it for them the last number of times. Might be time for the longer route to the superbowl
Steelers, bengals, or colts in WC game. jets about a million to one shot.

I think the lesson of last night's game is you must pressure Tom Brady for the entire game. You can't let off for a moment.

Cris Collinsworth mentioned last night that Houston tried that last weekend, we saw how that turned out for them.
Perhaps the Niners have the horses to do what the Texans couldn't.

Gotta pressure Brady with just the front 4 ala the Giants.
Houston tried it with blitzing.... didn't work out so well.

Well you can blitz occasionally, but the key is the guys you leave in coverage have to be able to cover. San Francisco have better personell in their secondary and linebackers right now than a team like Houston does. I think one of San Frans issues was that they didn't stay as aggressive on offence long enough, started trying to ween the clock a bit too early. You can do that against about 28 other teams in the NFL, but don't try it against the Patriots.

I wonder how much the Houston game was just bad luck. Pats getting off to a huge start was key. Hard to play against the Pats in Foxborough when you are down down 14 or 21 points that quickly.
And people need to give the Pats some credit. Look at the lead the 49ers needed to build up to win the game.
Losing the game on 2 bad defensive plays was rough for the Pats though. Had the 49ers won the game on a long 6 or 7 minute drive following the comeback, the loss would have still been a moral victory for the Pats imo. Mounting that comeback and losing it so quickly has to be tough emotionally- possibly ruin the faith that had been built up in the defense over the last few weeks.

I've been bemoaning my Cowboys all year long. They looked hopeless. Now they suck you back in with some thrillers.

Hopefully the Colts can beat the Chiefs next week and clinch the playoff spot by themselves, but a Titans win over the Jets tonight clinches a playoff spot for Indy. Therefore, go Titans!

The Houston game could easily have been a whole different story. Schuab makes a horrible throw instead of hitting a wide open Foster. Texans can't recover a fumble, Texans take a dumb penalty that was also a bad call, you're down 21-0 and you can't stick with your original gameplan.
I still think there are holes in that New England defense. The key is if you can get up on them, you have to be able to run the ball and control the clock after. Arian Foster makes that game a complete blowout if it's him and the Texans with that lead in the 3rd Quarter.

Teblow in now.
Mike Vernon and Skip Bayless must be ready to overrate anything he does.

I think he may be okay (not great) on a better team. He has been saddled with a ton of crap to work with and a ton of pressure as well.
I don't think he will live up to the 6th pick or contract he got but I think he could be a middle of the road starter in this league on a team not the Jets.
