No. He'll become a UFA on July 1. Until then, he can only talk to the Flames.

It is what it is now. Overall I'm fine with the work the Flames did. We'll have a much better picture when the draft picks are made.

It works both ways. If there are 3-4 teams interested, and the deadline is fast approaching, they may shift to the consolation prizes before the main prize is even dealt. Especially if they want third team retention.

The Memorandum of Agreement in place at the time of the signing of the offer sheet stated a player needed to be on a team's restricted list (meaning any team's) in order to not require waivers, and O'Reilly was. It was the Avalanche's list. This is what was in place at the time of the offer sheet being signed, thus he did not require waivers.
Later, in the actual CBA, it was changed to state the player must be on the team's restricted list (meaning the signing team's) in order to not require waivers. In this instance, which is not what was in place at the time of the offer sheet, O'Reilly would have required waivers prior to playing. This was the intent, which is why it was changed, but was not what was in place at the time.

Looks like a little over 2 mill in cap space available.
Markstrom 50% retained might just be doable if they a move another salary the other way.
2024 1st - Ritchie - and another high pick or B prospect - cap dump
Can't see them winning Cup with Georgiev as their starter.
|
Oooh, Ritchie and Taylor Makar and Colorado 2nd round pick in 2025 for Jacob Markstrom and Andrew Mangiapane. Get Makar's brother here to set the groundwork for a Cale signing in the coming years.

No room for Markstrom trade then. Not sure how they fit Nichushkin in cap.

Capfriendly shows them as compliant right now, including Nichuskin, because they're utilizing LTIR.
CURRENT CAP SPACE : $2,129,257
