NOBODY is getting “off the hook” for the unfair Trade Balances, and Non Monetary Tariff Barriers, that other Countries have used against us, especially not China which, by far, treats us the worst! There was no Tariff “exception” announced on Friday. These products are subject to the existing 20% Fentanyl Tariffs, and they are just moving to a different Tariff “bucket.” The Fake News knows this, but refuses to report it. We are taking a look at Semiconductors and the WHOLE ELECTRONICS SUPPLY CHAIN in the upcoming National Security Tariff Investigations. What has been exposed is that we need to make products in the United States, and that we will not be held hostage by other Countries, especially hostile trading Nations like China, which will do everything within its power to disrespect the American People. We also cannot let them continue to abuse us on Trade, like they have for decades, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER! The Golden Age of America, which includes the upcoming Tax and Regulation Cuts, a substantial amount of which was just approved by the House and Senate, will mean more and better paying Jobs, making products in our Nation, and treating other Countries, in particular China, the same way they have treated us. The bottom line is that our Country will be bigger, better, and stronger than ever before. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Kind of. The supply chains may be owned by China but the actual raw materials are not necessarily Chinese. This dumb trade war is an attempt to change that. All the value added steps as well as many of the raw materials could be brought state side. It would be expensive and difficult to get private equity to invest in, but it could be done I suppose.
However, to do a trade war, you don't also fight with your allies first then make everything arbitrary

Ya but when you blanket tariff everyone those raw materials cost you more than they cost everyone else. You're already at a disadvantage before you even look at the delta in wages between China and the US.
EDIT: Isn't most factory equipment made in China as well? So if you want to build a factory to compete right now you have to pay 104% tariff on your equipment on top of the 25% more you have to pay for steel and aluminum to have it built. The genius knows no bounds.

When Tariffs cut in, many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated. Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year. Also, massive numbers of jobs are already being created, with new plants and factories currently being built or planned. It will be a BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!! Haha, new plants and factories being built that would take years and billions of dollars to complete. I remember an interview about a month ago on CBC with a U.S. auto representative from Michigan who said that it would probably take at least a decade to build new plants and completely overhaul the supply chain. Trump and his minions are completely f***ing clueless about global trade and have no idea how any of this works.
