Thing about Pospisil and energy is that his type of game is much harder to maintain at a high level consistently. Going out game in and out to take a beating is tough. So there will be lulls, and with those come penalties where he knows he should be being aggressive but he’s a step behind, and grabs or something.

It’s a lot easier for the high skill smooth skating guys to take a rest for a shift, then if they get a couple points all is forgotten.

Not too sure why Posposil seems to be thrown out there as trade bait here. Maybe people are just bored?

Honestly, in a weird way, I bet he kinda likes getting punched in the face. Probably means he knows he’s doing his job well.

If you are looking for a young centre, and the other team wants players back, who are they going to ask for?

The other side that nobody is talking about is his extensive concussion history. I’m sure that he’s been told to avoid fighting (there’s been a few he couldn’t avoid) and that he’s in danger of his career ending if he took another bad one. In the minors and in junior, he absolutely LOVED to fight- he even had 253 PIMs in 48 games in his draft year, numbers that are never seen these days. Those are eighties penalty minute numbers. There are times out there when it looks like he’s really itching to beat somebody up, but refrains and skates away. It’s no reason to go out and trade him, but hopefully it’s not a matter of time scenario.

Depends on the team. They might want picks, they might want a top 4D (Andersson or Weegar), they might want a C that helps them right now (Kadri).

I’m just not sold that Posposil gets you a young C with top 6 upside. At least not on his own.

All the concussions are part of the reason I’d be fine if they traded him and got good value.

I never said he’d get that player on his own. I’ve always assumed he’s not the centrepiece of any trade.

I mentioned Posposil in relation to the rumors about the availability of Kappo Kakko. Posposil type players have always been part of the makeup of the Rangers team. Rempe turned out to be more of a goon than a pest, and in terms of skill Posposil runs circles around him. New York has deep playoff aspirations, and a pest with skill would be high on their 'want' list.

I'm not saying that Calgary would want to trade him, but for sure the Rangers have asked.

Didn't Rico Fata try out for the Rangers at one point?

Don't know about the tryout but he played 46 games there after leaving the Flames.
