Wouldn't the decision to throw the game for a better draft spot be an order that would come from higher up in the organization? The coach would just be setting the plan to make things happen.

Yes it’s better for positioning but that was preseason game blatantly bad. It’s terrible optics and I’m happy if this changed all the “Doug is safe” talk that’s been going on this week.

It was a fun adventure. I got to talk about the NFC East for 10 weeks for a dumb bet.

I don't really think Doug has been all that safe this year. He had one good/lucky year as coach. His other seasons have all been pretty awful but his record is decent because he coaches in what has been the worst division for a number of years.

Had Sudfeld looked like a actual NFL QB maybe I could defend Doug but he didn’t so I can’t.

The problem is that if they were to implement a lottery, a team like the Eagles would stand to benefit from a lottery with a chance to go higher in the draft.

Apparently Doug had promised Sudfeld he'd get him some reps all week. Optics are bad but this was essentially a preseason game for the Eagles and they don't owe the Giants a damn thing.

It's not like this denied a 10 win team to be in the playoffs or anything like that. But the players on the Eagles who did play showed up tonight. On one hand Alex Smith coming back and guiding that team to 6 real wins, plus that is a nice story. I still like Alex, and he's as tough as they come mentally. But you can see that physically he's all but finished as he never had a huge arm and now that he lacks the mobility he used to have he's even easier to defend. I expect that Tampa will easily win by 20 next week, and than we get Brady giving us all one last giant eff you, as the underdog against the MVP, denying Rogers of his dream to have the NFC Championship game in Lambeau.

Help, save, whatever.

That Bills win was soooo sweet.
When Diggs got sandwiched there in the 1st half I actually screamed. It looked really serious at the time.
But the fact they beat down the Dolphins so bad to secure the 2nd seed AND knocked the Dolphins out of the playoffs was just beautiful.
This season has been a lot of fun to watch. Can't wait for the playoffs. Hesitantly optimistic!

Well I didn't watch last night because why subject yourself to it if you don't have to? But I guess I forgot the possibility that Pederson would go DGAF and straight up tank the game. But how could he #### that up so bad? Start Sudfeld and tank from the start and whatever, but to let your guys think you were actually trying to win and then going tank midgame? Yeah his guys aren't gonna like that. Right move strategically (although given how crap the Eagles have drafted recently where they pick is almost irrelevant), but executed in the worst possible way. Ironically the instructions to tank came from upstairs, and Pederson may now have to pay the price for how it was executed.

You can't take away the Super Bowl ring but Doug Pederson is one of the worst head coaches to ever win a Super Bowl. Frank Reich was the architect of that offense and since he left that team has been a disaster. I dislike the entire NFC East so nothing would be better than seeing Pederson and McCarthy return.

I don't really have an issue with what Pederson did. Sure, I like a winning culture (like I said regarding the 49ers), but if you feel throwing a meaningless game in week 17 helps your draft stock, then go ahead. Where's the outrage about Miami missing out as a 10-6 team because Pittsburgh rested a plethora of Pro Bowlers and started Mason effing Rudolph? Not all that different IMO, teams always look out for themselves first. It's week 17. If you need scoreboard help there, better prepare for disappointment.

Well it's a lot different resting guys before the playoffs versus resting them before 7 months off. And fundamentally I agree they can tank to their hearts content. It's just gonna be a problem for Pederson in that locker room to tank midgame.

sure. You'd also expect there to be better communication because it didn't seem like Hurts and others understood it. Just saying I understand the motives.
also it's not like Hurts played lights out. Sure, he got the 2 rushing TDs, but 7/20 for 72 yards and 1 pick is, uhm, not good.

Is Tua good enough to be your QB? Or should they draft someone at 3? I think they should draft.
