And that 6-6 in October is deceptive given how freaking easy our schedule was. Six games against what were ultimately non-playoff teams. Three against tweeners, and only three against high quality teams - of which we won all three, go figure.

Exactly why I don't want the Flames to hire Peters. His 4 year record in Carolina is 137-138-53.

I think our roster is a massive upgrade over what Carolina has. Mike Smith alone makes a massive difference

Taking a while to get to 5000

Not pretending to speak for everyone but I think most want a team that is comfortably in a playoff spot for as long as the season will allow. No more jockeying to get in, fighting for a spot or yo-yoing between 3rd seed and a wildcard.
The Flames were never that team this past year.

Of course, but there seems to be a very good chance that the Capitals don't make it past CBJ, and if that is the case I don't see how Trotz keeps his job.

In which case enjoy the darkness for another few years.
Loved the guy when the game was different but his system and hockey sense isnt for todays game.

Let some other team make that gamble with Peters or any other middling coach. We tried that with GG coming from Dallas. Guess What? Nothing changed. GG was pretty much the same here as there.
A coach with a proven winning pedigree in the NHL is what the Flames need. Nothing less.

If WSH makes huge changes the guys I would be looking to poach are Oshie or Ovechkin, not Trotz

I'm not all that interested in Trotz either, but I think it is fair to say he is probably a candidate for the job if Washington lets him go.

The Flames need the right coach. That coach may have a stellar NHL record or one that appears average up to this point, and I am hesitant to discount someone outright on this purely binary metric. The facts would seem to suggest that Bill Peters is well regarded and a highly sought-after NHL coach in spite of his current record. I don't pretend to know why, but I do think it is very interesting and likely means that he is a better coach than his record thus far in Carolina.

I don't really think 4 years ago was a different era and game from today's version.

Yeah....it wasnt that long ago.
People have claimed that the game has passed Darryl by.
Unfortunately the actual evidence (2 Cup wins in the modern era) make this claim untenable.
He might be more adaptable than hes given credit for.

Not much better in the absence of Sutter with a different coach. It seems there is more wrong with that team than who is standing behind the bench.
