Yeah, I think there's no chance Ehlers is our pick. I don't see anyone ahead of us picking him either. Tallon is playing poker.

Our pick is going to have to be someone who can be a game changer both physically and offensively. We're going to get someone who can make offensive plays but still stand up for themselves. I'm still dreaming of picking Ekblad.

I really don't see Florida passing on Reinhart of Ekblad if they have the #2 pick. They are just playing with everyone's heads like some are saying.

Can't wait until the lottery draw so that we know where we are and can start to make some solid speculation on here. I'm sure more quotes and inside information will start leaking from the top teams out around then, too.

I suspect you're right but I wouldn't be surprised if in 5 years Ehlers is considered the best player of the draft. You can draft a "TRUCKLOAD OF TRUCULENCE" in the second and 3rd round. Ehlers has such a high hockey IQ that I suspect he could play either wing (or even centre) as he made a number of rushes up the right side and seemed to be the general when on the ice. I couldn't take my eyes of him.

Ehlers is such a wildcard for me seeing as how he plays consistantly with the best offensive player in the CHL on perhaps the best offensive team in the country. What would Dal Colle, Virtanen or Ritchies stat lines look like if they rolled with Drouin for 60 games in the Q?
My mind equates him with Kunitz playing with Crosby. Hes a very good player in his own right, but his numbers probably look a little different if he plays with the Wild or Jackets.
Frankly, I would be a little bit warry if the Flames took him at 5.

Most of what you're saying is accurate, but Ehlers isn't a Kunitz. He's a very talented slick player.

Ehlers generally doesn't play on a line with Drouhin but no doubt Drouhin is a big plus on the powerplay.

I was talking more situation than play style. Just the fact that numbers get boosted when playing with AAA elite playmaking centermen.

Most resources I have seen online plus a Mooseheads season ticket holder says he plays Drouin every night in all situations. Maybe you are correct, but that is what I based my post on.

You can draft a truckload of truculence in the 2nd and 3rd round, but how many of these players can be legitimate 1st line forwards? Prospects that have a combination of size and skill are taken quickly, and that is why you see them ranked so highly.
In the 2nd and 3rd rounds, you have bigger guys with less skill, and you can find some 'super-skilled' guys lacking size. You can not find both.
A team like Florida can probably fit in Ehlers much better, considering their top 6 is fairly robust. Compare that to Calgary, and it would be tough to put together a line that has any size to it in the top 6. You draft Ehlers if you plan on trading Gaudreau or Baertschi. It is tough to keep all 3 of them moving forward, as teams like LA, SJ, Chicago, St. Louis, Anaheim, etc., just bulldoze them.

Ho-Sang suspended 15 games for a hit in the 1st round of the OHL playoffs.. explains the u18 snub.
http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/v...0bf03ae5b453e9
15 games seems extreme for what happened on that video

If you injury a guy in the OHL you're going to get a million games like this. If that guy gets up and skates away there wouldn't even be a suspension. I'm all for taking away headshots and some of the big suspensions the OHL gives out.. but stuff like that is ridiculous.
