Personally think a second and a fourth or a third even isnt out of line.
Probably has more value with less term. He can go next year

What UFAs are teams desperate to deal that have to be dealt right now?

Kadri, Trocheck, Thomas and O'Reilly all have term

Coleman has term.

There might be lots of players that terms are willing to trade, but there are very few players that teams have to trade and very few UFAs available.

That still makes it more of a sellers market IMO
Buyers market / sellers market is a bit of a pointless distinction. If it’s a true seller’s market and packages are big then other GMs will jump in and dilute the market.

It’s all about specific individuals and (perceived) team fit.

I think farabee is the Coleman replacement. Honzek backlund farabee next year could be a solid matchup line I think

It almost reads that he just doesn’t think Kadri has value basis his comments on ROR and Stamkos

I think Friedman mentioned that there were four big-name centres on the block, and Kadri was one of them. I think the ‘buyer's market’ is more about teams trying to get assets back for players that are not on that list. There are enough buyers for Trocheck, Thomas, O'Reilly (if traded), and Kadri, but anyone looking to sell a centre after those four is liable to find a very poor market.

This year should be an arm’s race. With Florida basically out, it’s any playoff team’s cup, especially with the Olympic schedule.

But then you never know.

I am just getting back into the swing of things after losing my mom on Wednesday. I have heard nothing in regards to Farabee.

Yeah I agree that buyers v. sellers market labelling is pointless, but I also think Friedman is a bit full of crap with that line. I mean to be fair to the guy he is expected to verbal diarrhea for a living and everything that comes out of his mouth isn't going to have scientific precision.

There are maybe 6 teams in the league tops that are looking at moving multiple roster players in a seller type deal from what I can see. Rangers, Flames, Blues, Canucks, Blackhawks to a limited extent and if you believe the national press the Leafs are about to raffle off their garbage for gold dust, seem to be the main selling teams. Hard to see the Jets Devils or Panthers selling.

The Hawks don't even really have a lot left to sell other than Bertuzzi, and the Leafs think they're good enough to contend next year and will only be moving UFAs and spare parts.

So you have more than 20 teams kicking tires and 5 or 6 sellers and that's a buyers market? Sounds more to me like a GM on a team in the playoff race is feeding him garbage telling him prices will come down and there are lots of options. When Trochek and Kadri are gone there's not really anything else left as far as quality centers. O'Reilly is going nowhere without a major overpay with Nashville 3 pts out and Thomas is a completely different beast that's going to take 3 or 4 good young pieces or picks and seems more likely to happen at the draft or in the summer.

Agreed.

It's up for grabs. Also, there are potentially several new teams in the playoffs: BUF, DET, MTL, NYI, ANA, UTH, SEA

It's wide open - great year to get bold.

That really sucks. My condolences to your loss. It's a very hard thing to go through, but keeping ahold of little things like at least she isn't in pain any more really do help going through the grief. It just is lousy.

Wishing you all the best.
