Lynn Kimbrough, communications director for the Denver District Attorney’s Office, said the charges were dropped when a key witness, who had observed the injuries to Vavrinyuk but not the alleged assault, changed her story after giving an initial statement to the police.
Kimbrough said Monday it was not a case of “not believing our victim, not believing an assault had occurred. It spoke strictly to our ability to be able to prove it.” "
So it falls under the 'who really knows' category. But the charges were dropped and I believe she's even gone back to Russia.
Either way, I am strongly of the belief that a girlfriend isn't going to spark fire without there being some kind of smoke to begin with.
My personal belief is that if she is guilty of anything it would be an exaggeration of the truth. But I still think there is some truth to all of it for there to have ever been a problem to begin with. He did start the whole thing by turning himself in after all.
Hoping this doesn't de-rail everything entirely, but I absolutely do not want him near our team.

There is still a pending civil suit against him apparently.
He is innocent until proven guilty, but that stigma is still a hard one to break.

Oh boy, I thought that was buried. Even worse!
And yeah, there's definitely the stigma that he won't be able to shake. I have to think his personality is somewhat abrasive to have even been in that situation.
Don't recall any negative viewpoints from Avs players though...

Varlamov would be interesting. Would be an upgrade in net but at same time would last years off ice incident dampen interest?

is that a typo? He's responding to a question about a trade proposal (duchene/barrie for stamkos), but his response seems like a typo. Regardless of how bad things are, i would have thought duchene is one of the real untouchables there.

Looking at HF sure sounds like Duchene is available.

What would be the cost of getting Duchene? Would absolutely love him on the flames.

Would love to see Ducher here, but we're already pretty deep down the middle (unless he plays wing).

Duchene would be a fantastic addition so the Flames could have 4 young elite forwards to build 2 lines around. Play Duchene and Bennett together oh man what a line that would be.
Backlund, Porier, 1st?

you're trading one of those other 3 young forwards if you're getting Duchene
unless its after the season and that 1st ends up in the lottery
plus the Avs need defensive help, not that the Flames would do it but they would probably want Brodie back for Duchene

One of Bennett, Brodie, Gaudreau or Monahan and the Avs likely want something added on to those guys as well.

it depends, all things being said the Bruins handled that trade horribly
they had a disgruntled player and didnt make it well known around the league he was available
if this Duchene news is getting out then the Avs are basically courting offers

Duchene isn't worth more than any of those guys except maybe Bennett. Duchene is a good player but also pretty overrated. He's looking more and more like a good #2 center rather than a true #1 guy.

Was just going to say this.
Duchene is 24 now, and is wildly inconsistent with his offensive production, if anything his production has steadily dropped.
Not saying he's garbage or anything, but he's over rated IMO.
I'd happily have him on the Flames, but not at great cost.

Bennett will be better than Monahan shortly IMO. I would trade Monahan before Bennett at this point.

The Avs have been pretty bad at trades so far under Sakic so I am not sure they are going to clean up. Having said that they likely move Duchene east of it happens and if it does they are going back into rebuild.
Grigerenko is close to a bust, Zadorov appears to have some issues, and they got an early 2nd for RoR who is a 200ft player that can put up points.
In my proposal the Flames give up a recent first round pick who was an AHL all star at 19, a first round pick and a solid 3rd line C to play behind Mackinnon and Soderberg. We all know the Avs love ex-Flames as well.
If we could protect that first rounder to be a top 10 selection for 2016 and add Russell I would do that as well.
Simply no to trading one of the Flames 3 young stud forwards.

I like our group of centers as they are.
Goaltending, RW and a premiere checking forward are on my wish list.

I'd rather move Monahan than Bennett at this point but probably wouldn't move either for Duchene.
He was average last year and has been off to a very slow start this season
