Carol Zhao has won her first 100k title.

And what a jump in the rankings for her in 2017...started at 491 and up to 150. Awesome!

So with that, is there any possibility that Roger finishes the year #1, or is it already over?

It's already over. If Federer wins he'll still be 100 points behind.

Has there ever been a tie in points before? If ever there was a year that there deserved to be 2 #1 players this is the year. GOATS 1A & 1B IMHO

Goffin with a huge upset defeating Fed in the first ATP Finals semi-final match 2-6 6-3 6-4. It will be Goffin against either Jack Sock or Grigor Dimitrov in the Sunday final.

bah. oh well, Fed wasn't totally on today, and that's the best I've ever seen Goffin play. he's this week's giant killer, which could either be just a hot run or the start of something bigger for him.
looking forward to a full slate of uninjured players at the start of next season, fingers crossed...

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Jana Novotna.
The image of her crying on the shoulder of Duchess of Kent when she lost the '93 Wimbledon final to Steffi is something I'll always remember. I was pretty young at the time, but I remember thinking, "I hope she gets her chance".
I had no idea she was ill.

Shot clock is long overdue. Rafa might only get to do one hair behind the ears and a half ass pick now.

It has simply reached the point where the rule itself was being so flagrantly violated (not just by Rafa) that it was either eliminate the rule or enforce it totally. Bigger thing to me is reverting to 16 seeds only starting in 2019. Last year with 16 seeds only Roger could have gotten Andy in the first round. So that'll be more interesting to see if they follow through on that.

That's an interesting move, I don't know if I agree with it. Will certainly make the first few rounds tougher, but we could get more Nadal vs Kevin Anderson finals due to the upsets. For the Australian Open that means Nishikori, Kyrigios and Milos will all be unranked. Murray is luckily the 16th seed.
