Yes, following the Canucks MO is probably best, as they are such a well run organization.

1st (Granlund)
2x1st (Rantanen)

So 4x 1sts and 3x 2nds. Nil has traded away last year's first, this year's first, and their 2028 1st, along with one of their top prospects/young players in Stankoven. That's hardly sitting on his hands.

Since 2018 the Jet have traded away:

1st (Stastny)
1st (Hayes)
2x 2nd (Dillon)
2nd (Niederreiter)
2nd (Toffoli)
1st (Monahan)
2nd (Schenn)
2nd (Tanev)

Again, hardly sitting on their hands. The Jets are on virtually every NTC/NMC in the league, and most players have trade protection. Cheveldayoff is severely handicapped in his ability to improve the roster through trades. The Jets also can't attract UFAs because of the market.

People who complain that NHL GMs aren't aggressive enough don't seem to understand how many players have trade protection. Fully three-quarters of the quality veterans in the NHL have NTCs or NMCs. And that number is only increasing.

The biggest restraint on player movement in the league is that players today have far more control in where they play than in the past, and they're not at all reluctant to exercise that control
Even if they don’t have control the players can exercise control by telling teams that they won’t sign there.

They are a train wreck and the most frustrating piece is how the draft system rewards it, they likely will have a better young franchise forward next year than us. Not because of anything they did right largely because of demkos health and ineptitude. if there was any justice they will lose the lottery.

That said I do think they and the rangers made the right play holding players out when they knew they were dealing them. Not piling on the flames because we dont know if anyone is actually close to a deal

Hopefully the loss tonight is coupled with Seattle picking up points and any thoughts of scenario B is put to bed.

Hopefully we get through the ducks game tomorrow without any injuries
It could also be as simple as the good offers are from teams Coleman and Kadri won’t go too

Thought I read somewhere here there were 4 teams on Coleman which 2 were outside the 10 he declined to extend to those teams?

I’d say the opposite. Sitting him says your offer isn’t good enough. We will just keep playing him. Not urgent for us.

Yeah, I think it's the Flames sending the message that they are not desperate to trade either player. If you sit them, you are pretty much telling other teams that they can wait until Friday and try to lowball because you pretty have to trade the player at that point.

The only way they should sit out is if a trade is so close that it will certainly get over the line at some point, or if you have the deal worked out and are trying to get the player to waive. Sitting them out if no acceptable or firm offer is on the the table would be daring teams to low ball you.

It seems the Flames just don't care about the injury risks and will chance it. I don't agree with it, but I don't think they will change their philosophy and start scratching players even if a trade is close.

They played Rasmus while a deal with the Bruins was accepted pending contract negotiations. A lot of teams would have sat him in that situation. It is what it is at this point.

I never said this...it happens, not as often as you think though
player does need to agree to sit though

Myers is sitting out...yah! What about the rest of the players getting traded this deadline? There are far more players on the block who are playing than players sitting out.
