I saw a tweet about yesterdays Jays game, the Jays had 25+ balls that were hit hard enough to be classified as "hard hit" or whatever.
That was only the 5th time that's happened in the stat cast era.
The other four times it happened, the team that had all the hard contact scored 20+ runs and won in a frigging land slide.
Jays get walked off 6 to 5.
The Red Sox had horse shoes up their asses.
EDIT: Here is the tweet, it was actually only 4 times total....

That's ####ing bonkers. I knew yesterday looking at Baseball Savant that that game was a bloody anamoly. In a round about way they lost that game because they hit the ball too hard. So many singles of the monster. Or rockets that couldn't advance runners from 1st to 3rd. It was sooo fun to watch but probably what made it sooo frustrating that they lost.

Say Vlad looks at his numbers after his 24 or 25 year old season and sees he’s got a look at the record.
A shift to DH full time while he’s still younger than most guys still trying to break in, could save a ton of wear on his body.
It for sure won’t happen if he keeps doing the splits at 1st.

I like it. Go big or go home.
I definitely think its very reasonable to start to think about if he can get to his dad's numbers though.

Well doing what he is doing at 22 is pretty rare, even though guys like Acuna and Tatis Jr are doing it right now as well, shouldn't discount how special Vlad's performance is.
Other seasons from generational players at 22:
Albert Pujols:34 HR .314 BA, .394 OBP, .955 OPS, 151 OPS+
Prince Fielder: 28 HR .271 BA, .347 OBP, .831 OPS, 110 OPS+
Miguel Cabrera: 33 HR .323 BA .385 OBP .947 OPS 151 OPS+
Alex Rodriguez: 42 HR .310 BA .360 OBP .919 OPS 136 OPS+
Ken Griffey Jr: 27 HR .308 BA .361 OBP .896 OPS 149 OPS +
Vlad Jr.: 20 HR .338 BA .447 OBP 1.123 OPS 202 OPS+
Still 100 games left to play...but if he keeps it up that's a better season at the same age than any of those hall of famers.

if he keeps it up it's a historic, unprecedented season for a 22 year old

For any player, regardless of age, considering how hard it is to hit in today’s game

Well this is fun so far. I think the Jays are taking their frustration out on the baseball the last couple of days.

Baseball is fun.
Keep it up boys, the Red Sox were lucky to win one so far, but you can still take 3 of 4 if you swing the bats like this.

With the green monster, I would consider DHing Gurriel and maybe put Davis in for defense.
And as I type this, Gurriel smashes it!
Well, this is a fairly good start.

Oh, I see Davis IS in, which I think is a good call. Interesting that they DHed Grichuk though, instead of Gurriel.
