Learned quite a bit about the Flames prospects from that. Thanks Mike!

Hoping I might be on the radio again once or twice next week during my trip to Stockton. I'll post in this thread when it's confirmed. I'll be in Stockton Nov 30-Dec 5.

Alright, still lots of time in advance but I'll be on The 9 with Pinder at 9:25 AM on Dec. 2. Live from Stockton.

What was painfully bad.

Been listening to 650 a bunch over the past few weeks to get a gauge on the Canucks, what the locals think is wrong (that's a whole other story), and the afternoon/evening hosts there are so much more polished and professional. 960's morning crew is awesome, but the rest of the shows leave something to be desired.

Nault the pessimist, Wills the homer, and Steinberg the mediator answering questions like "how surprised are you about where the Flames are in the standings" is pretty dull stuff I have to say. You could script each guys answer beforehand and nothing changes from any of them despite what's going on with the team.

What could serve them since is at least asking more interesting or controversial questions. Touch on some what if scenarios, and who would yous. Anything that gets you away from rehashing the same script and allows them to have fun with the conversation. I'm sure they're sick of rehashing the same points and hearing the others do so. A little more wildcard stuff that touches on things hockey related maybe. Basically they could benefit from studying the morning show and emulating what they're doing, as well as the show out in Vancouver.

I like Pat, but he definitely gets kinda forced into that mediator role, because I think Nault and Wills would rip each other to shreds if he didn't. That's more on Wills being too thin-skinned, though Nault's pessimism seems forced a lot of the time and is grating. Blind homer in Wills plus a guy with really forced contrarian takes is oil and water. A shame that's all Pat has to work with right now.

I immediately change the station as soon as Nault comes on. His opinion holds absolutely no value to me.

Pat seems bored. And he's kind of bland. The other two don't come across as genuine -- one is clearly trying to play the role of a negative nelly and the other is just painful "And guys, let me tell you."

The morning show is brilliant. Boomer is the glue that keeps everything together. He drives a great conversation, is witty, and has chemistry with his cohosts.

Mixed bag with the station these days. And that's too bad given what's happening on the ice. They should be knocking it out of the park.

Considering we are a top 5 sports market in Canada, our sports station is average. Conversation is definitely bland, I drive 2 hours total each day and only tune into the 960 because other news stations are depressing. Versteeg and Sarich should have been mainstays on the air and their takes were awesome.

Who else notices how bad the morning show is at their NFL point spread picks are each week? I think its funny but they don't come close most weeks, especially Pinder who thinks he is numbers wiz.

Default "Take that Calgary Puck!" — SN960 and Calgary sports media discussion

It’s like asking my 93 year old grandmother if she shopped at GameStop when she was a kid.

Pat is fine. Tries to be professional

Nault has a job for reasons unknown

Wills has grown on me.

Why won’t anyone on the fan ask more difficult questions? Are they paid by the flames? They always seem to tippy toe around Treliving

Nault is also super thin skinned.

How he was retained while they let go better talent over the last two years still baffles me.

Think he's just Kirsch's pal.

A previous poster noted the absolutely terrible intros for traffic and how bad it is for those involved in the accidents. I can’t unhear or unlisten.

Some recent ones…and you will hear the voice in your head.

Double trouble with 2 2 car pileups.
Metal mayhem on Macleod.
Disaster on the Deerfoot.
Crashes on the Calf Rope.
Bender on Bow bottom.

If it wasn’t for the fact that people were in danger and distress, it might be amusing.

If it's who I'm thinking of the traffic guys name is Trace St. John and I cannot stand him. His 'radio character name' is Trace Ventura and no one introduces him by that name which I think is hilarious and awesome of them. I always hear his voice saying "the crush of the rush." I'd rather a generic robot voice give me traffic updates over that clown.

Oh they're definitely close enough with the Flames to not rock the boat too much.
