Not saying that's a good thing. You would hope that his effort is consistent. But it seems well established that he's at his best when the stakes are high, and at his worst when they aren't.
Agreed. To me, for someone who's supposed to be playing a leadership role, it's a bad example to be setting.

Hopefully, I am wrong and we did not wait too long. I was reacting to Friedman saying there are other players on the market now who are competition.

I am not going to pretend to know what the market is.

And probably why they need to part ways.
He's not the type of guy to lead a team through a re-build.
Weegar could be.
Naz isn't. Will be bad for him and bad for the team.

That's why I agree it's a matter of when, not if, and how much the return is. If it ends up being only a 2nd, it's probably still the best for all involved.

Rebuild over several years and trade away 8+ veterans....why aren't they rebuilding!

Kadri was great last night. Really F-ing up the tank.

I agree though, he's inconsistent if he's not competing, but that's honestly fair. He's a talented player, but a large part of his game is based on determination. It's hard to have the resolve to win every night when you're on a sinking ship.

Anyways, hoping he gets moved soon. He's costing us valuable tank points.

People who say Kadri has less of a value this season seem to base that only on him and not the needs of other side of the deal

Kadri looked like a man competing for a trade last night.

Gotta think if one of the Avs or Wild land Trochek then whichever team misses out will be all in on Kadri.

While I'm not huge on Kadri, for all people think about him having a unique skillset, plus being a centre, I don't know how he can't return a 1st, even if a lower 1st. Certainly that last year sucks on the contract but the expectation is the cap goes up and the effect of his last year becomes infinitesimal. Anyway, I just don't see how he can't return a 1st.

This trade never made sense to begin with, and I will be surprised if they get equivalent value in return for what they paid.

Personally, I like what Conroy has done as a whole, and I really liked the last couple of trades of Markstrom and Andersson. So it's a wait and see for me, but if the Flames only get a 2nd for Kadri then I would be a bit disappointed.
And Conroy (and every GM) will get things wrong.

He will set a price too high.
He will set a price too low.
He'll be patient when he should have pounced.
He'll pounce when he should have been patient.

But I personally believe he and his group have a plan and they stick to it. Hopefully they are right 60% of the time which I think would be elite.

Having an opinion that they should have done something sooner is fine.

Saying
"it sounds like we waited too long"
"Can't see us making a lot of trades now"
"Classic"

gets old.

Yup.

The Sharks paying those assets for a soon to be 31 year old 3rd line winger who was looking for to cash in on the biggest contract of his career, based on a bit of a PDO bender the last 18 months was always silly.

I feel like there is no way they get 2 2nds back for him now.

There are pretty much ALWAYS "other players on the market now who are competition". Nothing has changed....except the needs of teams who are competing for playoff positions and the players that those out of same might wish to trade.

Stamkos refuting reports he’d waive his NMC.

Personally I'm not worried about Friedman and Dreger's comments, not yet atleast. When you're this close to the deadline things change very quickly.

I'm surprised more buyers haven't been active yet, there's alot of teams on the bubble right now who should be getting their new target it in asap.

I was watching him play last night and just sat there questioning...why of all players did SJ prioritize him?

I am starting to think the flames are going to play themselves out of the bottom 3 over the next few games. For a few reasons:

-they are the most rested team in the league especially in terms of their highest impact players.
-Wolf looks dialled in and rested. That usually means he’s going look unbeatable for a few games.
-Kadri is on a hot streak and, when he is on one of those, he can carry a team. We’ve seen it with the flames and even with Colorado when McKinnon was injured.
-guys like Zary and Klapka have found their game.

Of course… a big trade could derail that but I could see the team leaning on Wolf to squeak out wins even after Kadri/Coleman are gone.
